stop go decision needed; 20 Moa based good or bad for hunting.

I took it’s up north as a 2 rifle setup, but one of my r93 platforms is an attaché stock, so due to weather conditions I ran it as a 1 rifle (professional stock) with 2 barrels with respective scopes plus respective bolt carries, bolt heads and mag inserts. Both returned to zero each time I swapped over.

Can’t you just smell the confusion, children? Doric Prince can. Poor boy…..

Yeh I am confused Sorry, mainly as I don’t under what you mean by this or the post you are quoting.? Perhaps I wasn’t born as well informed and technically proficient as some on here 🤷🏻. Or perhaps SD should have some form of stalking iq test before one is elevated to the all porweful ability of being permitted to ask questions on this forum? Bit like an 11 plus exam perhaps or a scope wizard Mensa qualification maybe?, might help remove the obvious dumasses like my good self from clutting up this forum. Thanks 🙏

That's good to hear.

Someone I know runs a one rifle, two barrels, one scope (a very good one, S&B, (with a lot of adjustment range) setup. In .223 and .308, mainly for target shooting. We are officially restricted to 1000 m/s muzzle velocity on the ranges that we use. R93 LRS-2.

He swaps the 'scope between the two barrels and bolt heads, using the claw mount and makes a correction from his range book, via the turrets, for elevation and windage, and it's always spot on. No, the mount onto the two barrels doesn't match up exactly the same, but is consistent. As is the way the barrels swap.

I have used it, starting at 300m with .223 then out to 600m, then put on the .308 barrel for the afternoon session to 900m and it performed at least as well as others with more dedicated rifles.

This is what I had hoped to do, but wasn’t confident of the claw mount adjustment being consistently set the same between 2 barrels as on my barrels (magnum and standand calibre) you need to wind out the 2 screws on the base significantly to open enough to get the bite point. My shop and I both thought the variance, and in ability to get the mount bit screws back to the same point each time when moving the base, would likely be problematic in ensuring zero. To be fair I didn’t test this but might in the future.

Yes the way that Blaser machine the mounting points into the barrel is subject to mechanical variations, nothing can be perfect. But nominally they are supposed to be all about the same, whatever chambering or barrel. So a claw mount should fit any and every barrel. They don't make them in different versions. AFAIK. Tweak them up to a consistent torque and they should be consistent., albeit maybe pointing off in slightly different directions from barrel to barrel. Hence why the recommendation is to have a separate scope and mount setup for every barrel. But it doesn't have to be this way if you are prepared to adjust the scope precisely from putting it on from one barrel to another.

Worth investigating to see what yours can do, swapping one scope, and stuff, between several barrels.

Who the f**k is britt hunter, and what’s the relevance? Please do tell, obviously a joke only a veteran SD with 3 tours and 2 purple hearts can understand, I’m just a FNG!
It was not aimed at you lol no moa rail or rings were used lol

Britt hunter was great he used to get typing at full speed. His passing shot was just a bit much so he disappeared.

I remember posting using a bit of rolled en8 in 30mm to line up scope rings, oh it had to be ground stock as that was
ground to tenths lol :tiphat:
