Strange roe behaviour?

Well-Known Member
Been watching a roe deer this week from distance, appear in the same field, morning and evening just pacing up and down the hedgeline at a brisk walk. Not feeding. Couldn't determine sex as too far away. Reminded me of a caged zoo animal.
Anyone shed any light on this behaviour? The field is fully surrounded by woodland and there are red deer present. Never see them in the same field though.
