Summer boots

I use a pair of Meindl Bhutan and also pair of haix commander boots. Slightly above the ankle 100% waterproof on both and from ex army surplus store so cheap to buy.

Maybe not helpful but I have Lowa Renegade and I really rate them for summer use.

Me too, great boots with excellent grippy sole for when it gets a bit muddy. Wear mine every day when walking the dog, no matter the weather, in the pigeon hide and up the pub. But, I wear the Hunter GTX for stalking, though I like more ankle protection in that situation.

Always liked Merrel Moab Mids and had a few pairs over the years. Extremely comfortable but always leaked. Just purchased a pair of Keen Revel 3 and really impressed on comfort right out the box. Will see how they hold up.

Not for everyone but after a lifetime of wearing boots everyday for me these have been a revelation. I ruptured an Achilles about 10 years ago and until I decided to give these a go, wearing boots became slightly uncomfortable as the day wore on. Not waterproof but good enough for me.

If you buy from Vivo directly (could also work for resellers, not sure) you get a free 100 day trial! Good chance to test them out in anger and see if they work. There are various discount codes flying around, some up to 25% off!

Worth noting that all the advice I’ve seen says to make the transition slowly to ‘barefoot’ style shoes/boots. Otherwise you can really run the risk of doing yourself some serious damage. Your legs will be used to wearing footwear with a thick sole, and possibly heel-striking, so a slow transition is best to build up muscle in different areas and get the most of the shoes!

(That’s not directed at you, @jimmer.13, just in general!)

I got these for summer boots. they are only 950g versus my scarpa winter boots which are 1780g.

They also have a really wide toe box and are barefoot flat soles.

I would vote for AKU pilgrims, either high or low. They are goretex lined (so waterproof). Both are superb, light and thin soled. Both are available in a wide fitting.

Their Spider boots are also excellent if you want something super light and flexible.

I applied a code off YouTube and saved £60
Sound advice from the good Dr about taking your time to get used to them also.
They definitely feel a little bit strange at first but once you get used to them for me it was a transformation on how it improved my gait and posture.
Zola Budd was onto something 😂👍

Harkila Reidmars with their wire fastening are very comfortable in summer, light but supportive. I had a bit of separation of sole from upper after in one place after about 9 months and they were replaced by Harkila pretty quickly.

This is the problem nowadays, where to go and try them on, it seems to be either buy a load of boots and try them all at home hoping they can be returned with no fuss or try what are at shows which I struggle with cis of the wide fit, and obviously suppliers can't take everything to a show

There's a shop in Keswick which stocks quite a few models and sizes.
Very helpful staff.

What size foot are you?
If a 9 you could try mine on as we're both in N Yorks.
Well, according to clarks sizing contraption I'm a 8-8.5 in length and a 10 in width, which sounds about right as I usually seem to end up with size 10's to get the width and then they're too long

But thanks for all the replies, I'd like to try the renegades and a couple of other option seem doable
