Swarovski 10x32EL - does age matter

a superficial scratch will make no difference, a deep scratch can scatter light and cause artefacts. Often a Sharpie marker can fix it by colouring in the area scratched carefully.

on my FLs only one side needed doing as the swirl.marks caused a visible lack of sharpness. As it was fairly good value [£40 for the raw lens IIRC] decided to do both.

Update
I decided to buy the 10x32 ELs
They were delivered this week came with box, booklet, lens covers etc the coverall condition is excellent for age.
However, there is a fine scratch on the RHS ocular lens, which does not appear to affect the view.
The seller has offerred me 2 options :-
Return for a full refund
or, accept a £100 partial refund, which I am tempted to accept.
I could just carry on using them as they are, or have them fixed.
Just wondering what the cost of service with Swarovski would be??
That’ll have been as a result of the lead police trying to extract the lead from the glass, apparently copper is the thing these days, and you’re just bound to go blind looking through lead contaminated lenses and prisms… this is longhand for ‘take the money’ …

Just having my 10/25 pocket binoculars serviced at the moment, I’m fully confident they’ll be as good as new when returned. The cost ( they’re certainly 30+ years old) isn’t significant, but you’ll get the choice should you decide to consign them for service, they’ll give you the cost as may or may not apply, and you then can decide to accept and pay, or have them returned ( at notional posting cost) without having any work done.

Make a few belts meantime👍🏻
