Swarovski DS 5-25 x52 opinions thereof

Have you had the chance to look at one?

The 'turrets' are actually positioned behind the objective lens, on the bell. I suspect the erector springs are also located in this area. The 'turrets' are hidden behind wee caps which are in turn retained by small screws. The required allen key and turret key are stored where the elevation turret should be.

My hypothesis is that Swaro needed to locate them here due to the extra space required for the electronics (hence the 40mm maintube).

My example has lost zero on windage twice, and I now check it regularly with a collimator after cleaning.

If it is a genuine issue, get it back to Swarovski for check/repair free of charge. To me, it would seem to be a better alternative to complaining about it.

No never seen or looked at one. Was purely just curious about them.

Been back and forth previously already.

I'm sure the DS does not take too well to the sorts of conditions it's subjected to for work.

Swaro probably say 'not them again' when they get sent it.

Weight, & size apart, it's an excellent scope in good light, but rubbish in low light. I use it occasionally, and would definitely want to use it for plains game, but stalk with a Z8 2.3-18 x 56.

I'm curious how many average/hobby stalkers ever dial windage ? Elevation yes, easy to range a distance, and use a BT, but windage ? Easier to just hold off
Good point, I dial elevation and then just hold off for wind

I would be prepared to bet that more long shots are missed due to a crap wind call than a bad elevation hold over ….. certainly for us foxes…. The DS can’t help you there…. I have used one… I know it has windage bars but not really of any use

Had a Gen 2.

It’s a big lump.

I had issues holding zero. It had a visit back to Swaro. Still not convinced. Swaro says it is fine now, I was sick of the bloody thing.

The front elevation and windage adjustment was TIGHT man. I did not consider that indicative of precision engineering. If felt like it had to be tight or something bad was going to happen. Supposition of course but that was my perception.

It was very handy in a group of hinds. Otherwise I don’t see the point. It’s not actually a long range anything. There is nothing to lean on for decent windage adjustments and I seem to remember the ballistics app was a bit simplistic. Fine for hunting but not really long range.

Personally I view it as Swaro’s second worst product ever, only beaten by that tactical scope they brought out that was a pretendy Kahles but in SFP.

Absolute great product.

Had mine for maybe 6 years and never missed a beat.Been outstanding but i really just use on the red and sika where it's filled it's boots.
