Swarovski ds

Some folk hate them (heavy, loose 5 mins of light at the end of the day, expensive, occasionally have rf failure)
some deer cullers love them ( point and shoot,if you bump a deer you don’t need to think about range as it does it for you, great on hinds where the group keep moving per shot, great on re stock sites)
You will cull far more deer with one generally compared to the deer you don’t on the last 5 mins of the day.
Loved mine so I now have 2 ( one on my roe rifle and one on my hill rifle).

Cheers. Yeah, it's for hinds I'm mainly wanting one for. Is there much difference between gen 1 & 2?

I had a look through a friend’s Burris and you quickly see why the dS is expensive in comparison. Buy once, cry once! I’ve had a Gen 1 dS since they were first released and it’s still going strong, working perfectly despite all the abuse I have given it over the years. Yes it’s heavy, and so is the rifle I have it on, but it’s such a reliable combination that has consistently delivered over the years - I won’t be getting rid of either any time soon.

100% agree I did not like the burris either

One of the unexpected, it logical when you think about it, bonuses of the Alpex LRF I’ve just bought is the ability to ping range & shoot the 2nd, 3rd, etc. animal in a group as they stop after a quick sprint from the first shot. The concept of ping & shoot is excellent whatever your chosen brand. I looked at a DS as several friends have them, but for me they were too heavy, too expensive & I needed all the time I could get at last light. Also looked at the Burris & a poor second to the DS I’m afraid. As my stalking is woodland & surrounding arable fields I opted for the Alpex to get more all the useable time available & it’s more than done that. Not sure how it’d perform on the open hill as far as image quality goes, probably not too well if you’re shooting at distance & want to use high magnification, for me 14x is plenty & provides a very useable image - can easily see 6.5 shot holes on target at 100 yards for example.

Really,

I compared the DS and the eliminator 6 side by side. Not much if anything in it, the older version Burris I would agree. The newest version has much improved glass. The reticle not as simple as the DS.
Which version of the eliminator did you look through ?

I have owned a DS1 from when they first came out, I have had no need to look through a DS2 as the 1 has always done everything I have needed, Great scope
