Teckel Working Vest - Primoz Rauter

Whilst this will not come as a surprise to some, I'd like to give out public well-deserved praise and to pass on my personal recommendation to others for the work of Primoz Rauter from Slovenia. Following yet more advice from @Keith Edmunds and others off this forum, I made contact with Primoz to make a jacket for my young Teckel Wiggy. Some of you may have seen my comments on Vizsla working vests in this post and my reporting with great sadness that the smallest (XS) Rudemeister working harness was a poor fit for my Teckel here, so it was with some trepidation that I engaged with Primoz over Facebook Messanger for a jacket for Wiggy. The results speak enitely for themselves; not only was engagement with Primoz easy and free-flowing, he was extremely helpful and clarified details, payment and postage was straightforward and delivery hassle-free, but most importantly, the quality and fit of the 2 collars and jacket tailored to take my Garmin T5 Mini collar is exemplary. I especially like the 3D tailoring of the chest portion.

I cannot recomend him more highly and commend him to other Teckel owners as a source of high quality and reasonably priced working goods!40FAB153-806D-4896-9536-346AC7B4B835.webpFA5B95EE-4D3B-415B-940A-D6A1E525CA05.webpB9AE9039-7F4A-4F6E-84B3-2ABD21EB1EAC.webpF5781341-1D47-45A9-B20A-97844EF83947.webp035CCC77-7E41-477D-83B4-15FB8EEF3886.webp

I guess with these vests it doesn't matter too much if the Garmin collar is mini or standard sized??
Agreed, although I am wondering how much the battery will “catch” on undergrowth, etc. From the US reviews I have read there appears to be no difference in the range of the units, just the battery life but so far, I have not found that to be an issue. I’ve also bought 2 of Primož’s collars and there will still be occasions when I will use this method and the mini certainly is much kinder on little Wiggy’s front legs.

I agree - the mini is still a better option but - for those who want to source Garmin in the UK......at least, with a vest, the heavier collar would be 'an option'.

So….. my normal stalking is mostly on open heath. On Arran, the exposed battery behind the Teckel’s neck kept snagging in brambles and fern stalks. I ended up stalking at the end of the week with the Teckel “naked”. I have today tried a Finnish jacket where the battery/antenna is in a pocket on top. Despite encouraging Wiggy through 100’s of metre of hedge/ditches no snags! I like Primoz’s jacket and undoubtedly it’s harder wearing but the KarDog jacket worked well. I’m up on hinds on Arran in January so will report after that how it fared.
