That permethrin stuff

For the ticks, stand down wind of the box hedge or roses you are treating for Box Blight or aphids respectively, and spray the permethrin as directed by the manufacturer. That way you treat your clothes as well. For the midges and mozzies, Gawith Perfection tobacco in a suitably knobbly pipe.. 😱
As a serious point, Permethrin breaks down quite quickly when exposed to strong sunlight, so it is worth re-treating with a summer such as we have had.

There was a permethrin concentrate available for diluting down (it was recommended on a few SD pages). Has anyone used it or similar for clothes and rucksacks etc?

This is what I’ve used for years, a container of the strong stuff (sprayed in the attics of most houses at full concentration, and approved for same) watered down - the principal ingredient being er, water in most proprietary hunting and outdoor products. Bought this, it will last a lifetime, and reduce unnecessary waste packaging, etc.

Edit, you can find it for far less than some sell it for too.
