So Mrs N was going to throw the old Barbour out 😱😱.

Not having it I decided to re-wax and after baking in the aga at 85c for an hour, turned out ok.

Whilst waxing I started to muse on the life of and memories in that coat. There were many but one struck me. My lad was wearing it , as he often did, when he shot his first bird.

He gets married on Saturday at 31, the coat has done 25 years lets hope I get to see a grandchild wearing it and doing similar.

Must have been allot of dust on the coat, made my eyes water.

Thats brilliant that you saved it and can pass it on, happy memories 😊

I have actively kept several items of clothing that my children grew out of and my wife had put in the charity shop pile, for future use if we have grandchildren. Both my daughters wore baby clothes I wore as a newborn, my family is more sentimental than my wife's.

A proper Barbour Jacket must have discerning wear for the teenage fence hopper along with green hunter wellies in the late 80's.
The Beaufort was my first one, full of rips after leaving "permissions" in a hurry. Then the Northumbria which weighed a ton & I had the DPM Barbour which I sold for a tenner....stupid boy.
Great that you've brought it back to life & the memories it'll bring you for years to come Nimrod 👍
