Well done to both you and Liz packing in, as both of you have quit it should be easier, next time my parents are visiting I will give you a call you can watch my mother with her oxygen mask on taking some before she heads outside for another fag, I spent over 20 years trying to get her to pack in but she never will, sad to watch somebody dying from their addiction. Watching her might give you even more resolution to keep off if you need it.

Congrats to all concerned. I managed to quit (Again) and have not touched a smoke for a couple of months now. The wife keeps telling me that she would like to quit so I have just bought her one of Allen Carr's books to help her although I am not going to push her as she might dig her heels in - Much better to let the good lady feel that it is entirely her own decision.
I find that I am saving something around £25 per week, and that's a lot of pennies to put towards treets for the both of us!:)

Time to change your rifle again lol with all the money you'll save !!!

Well done mate, can only be a good thing.

Well done the pair of you.

My neighbour gave up smoking last year and he put all the money he saved into a big Kilner jar - it ended up paying for a safari to Kenya for him, his wife and their son

Well done John, all Liz has to do now is think of ways to spend the money you save :-D

John

John, try to put the money you are saving each week into an account separate from the rest of your cash and you will see it mount up, I didn't, smoking cost me around £50 a week stopped for three years now so should be £7,800
better of I'm not, don't know where its gone not anymore money in my pocket it just gets spent on something else I suppose keep the money you would have spent on fags separate it will give you more of an incentive to keep going.

Excellent. Stick with it. Remember that there are uncounted little life-stresses lurking around to try to push you back into into smoking. Ignore them.~Muir

I've quit for 3 years now, never regretted it, just find a new obsession like running or hiking where you really want to focus on being healthy to achieve your goals..that's pivotal IMHO.

Once I'm 60 I will take up smoking again for sure though! then I'm so old it won't be the ciggies killing me:D

I wish you would all stop posting about smoking, stopped smoking for three years now, forced to stop for health reasons, it was hard for me to stop, smoked for about 40 years and really enjoyed it.

Had to go cold turkey because of health problem could not use patches, gum etc.

They did try to get me to go to classes but I was damned if I was going to go and listen to someone talking about it, and a programme of weening you off, I am nothing if I am not a determined old sod,:old: just said thanks but no thanks if I have to stop then thats it I'm stopped haven't smoked since that day.

Never really think about it now at least not until you lot all start posting about smoking, now I WANT A BLXXDY FAG.

Cheers chaps we are both stoked. We were trying to put the saved money away for a trip to Africa. But we have more pressing needs at this point and time unfortuately thats put a real financial burden on our shoulders..

Nutty

gave up pipe and drink ,for good in 1976 i should be a millionare ,but spent it , giving up was helped by crab fishing with a tetotal non smoking bible reader ,he did me a great favour, stopping smoking ,he didnt do as well with the bible ,and boy did he try. Still keep it up ,i have recently had to have a general anasthetic twice and as you get older every little helps ,so dump the smoking
