This is a review of a very poor outfitters, Anatolia Safari run by a Mr Osman Kindir of Antalya. We paid €42,000 for 4 days of driven boar hunting, we were told to expect between 60 to 100 boar between our group of 15 experienced hunters. Only 3 boar were killed in total, I didn't see a single boar during the whole trip.

The logistics, transport and services at the airport were all good. The accomodation and food were clearly low budget but would have been acceptable if the hunting was good. Unfortunately the hunting was terrible.
None of the Turkish organisers gave the impression that they had any idea how a driven hunt is planned, many of the drives and peg placements were clearly just time fillers with next to no chance of showing boar.

Our requests for a partial refund have been turned down. Osman's excuses were to blame our eyesight, hearing and memories.

As a group we have been hunting driven boar together for nearly 20 years and we've had good trips and disappointing trips but never anything as bad as this.

EDIT: I believe Mr Kindir advertises extensively in Germany, so I'd like to get a review onto the German equivalent of SD. If anyone can help me with that I'd be grateful.

There are some proper Sharks out there! I know 2 really good sporting agents I only deal with them now. Hopefully you and your mates get everything sorted!

Sorry to hear that. I’m afraid Turkey has a reputation for this now. I have hunted many times, in turkey, and have had some fantastic boar hunting. 20 years ago boar hunting was just opening up to foreign hunters and we consistently got 40 - 60 big boar per day. Now it’s largely over hunted.

Sorry to hear this, but sadly it's not uncommon, and it's really good when these experiences get posted, so other people can avoid suffering the same misfortune !

We all know that "hunting, is hunting", and we may be lucky, or unlucky, but at the very least you expect there to be game in the area.

It's a common excuse to blame the hunters, but they're normally blamed for not being able to shoot, which is fine if there are lots of shots, but very little dropped !

On one trip I did, we were shooting a fenced area on one of the days, and the numbers were very poor in the morning. The organiser blamed the groups shooting ability, and asked the hunt manager for the number of boar shot, and the number of shots............................... 12 boar, for 14 shots 😁

We were offered a "cheap return trip", or some money refunded......... I took the refund, I think others are still waiting for the "cheap return trip" :-|

On another trip, To Turkey, I had a rotten hunt. Five hunting days cam back with the same number of bullets I arrived with  BUT, the group shot 88, can hardly say it was a bad hunt, just for me.

Absolutely disgraceful and people have the audacity to pull a straight face when they’re ripping people off. You’re paying good hard earned money that you’ve set aside to go on this dream hunt for years probably. Life lesson I suppose.

If the expectation given by the organisers is a certain number of boar then I would expect to have that amount in the bag.
I've decided not to go abroad for driven boar hunts but stay and hunt here in Sweden. Two weeks ago on our village hunt 9 boar were shot. I went on great bought day, cheaper than any driven day abroad. Plenty of boar seen and quite a few shot. Plus first class organisation and food and only an hour from home.
An extra driven day has been slotted in for tomorrow but can't make it as I've visitors.

We went to Poland every year in the 90's. There was always some sort of guarantee/promise of 30 boar/4 days. Anyway, when day 3 was over and total of only some 8-10 were shot management altered the shooting plan and next day (4) started with an odd beat i.e. a large village. Turned out village gardens were filled with semi-wild/semi-feral boar and some 20 was shot and problem solved. Groups of white boar with odd specels strolling down the village main street....

Journey to hunting ground was very long with Baltic ferry and such. Food more of 'dog type' and very cold houses i.e. no central heating. But we had fun or were young then. Glad there are boar here in Sweden all over and night stalking is the ultimate ...

Done.

Done.
Thanks. I'd found that forum but they haven't given me posting privileges.

Thanks for posting. “Hunting is hunting” - but what we are paying for is access to game that is there to be hunted. The guides / out fitters job is to know where the game is and how to organise things. Of course there will be times when things don’t go to plan but sold a hunt to shoot many boar, there needs to be plenty of boar in the area to be shot. If the area is shot out and no game, then the providers of the game need to manage things better.

I have no issue with going for the prospect of an armed walk, especially when after truly wild game such as wild fowling on the foreshore but ……..,
