Thoughts on the new Sauer 505?

Lovely looking rifle, but is there much of a difference from the 404.
They are as good as they say but, Price of wpn, Mounting system should be for Picatinny rail, other than that they are the buiness.

Looks fantastic, I really have to buy one. I like the fact that they got rid of the aluminum receiver for steel receiver, kept a nice range of calibers and adopted the proven blaser mounts.

Agree, wonder how much it will cost and when it will be available.

Left hand action?
I asked Sauer that question yesterday. We will see if they respond. I have a Sauer 202 left hand in 30-06 that I absolutely love. It’s possibly the most accurate rifle I’ve ever shot, including heavy barrel tactical types. Interestingly, I believe that yesterday they also announced that their model 101 is now available in left hand versions at no extra charge. That’s on their website. So that opens up another quality option for us Lefties!

Some eye candy. You’ll notice that there’s two different scopes. I more recently added the Picatinny rail and the Zeiss scope in the Henneberger quick mount.

I handled it yesterday at the Jagd & Hund in Dortmund.
It's really nice. The palm swell seems a little more pronounced than that of the 404. Good! I have long hands.
The cocking is as smooth as wiping over a baby's bum. Beautiful.
The trigger can be set to four different pull weights starting at 350g and up to 1200g. Great!
But the smartest move is certainly the introduction of the Blaser saddle mount to this model. They are available in abundance (other than the Sauer mount on the 404) and have proven very reliable.
As a Blaser boy owning several scopes fitted with saddle mounts the 505 has become a real option for me.
