Threatened ban on driven grouse shooting

Looks like government policy to me. Thanks for sharing it. I will pass onto our political team.

Dear David

Thank you for your email and your patience. My team and I are now starting to get on top of the waves of emails that have been arriving in my in-box. There are many important areas that need addressing.

Liberal Democrats are strong supports of animal welfare and will continue to work in parliament to ensure these high standards are upheld.

I recognise that grouse shooting is an important part of the rural economy which provides many direct and indirect employment opportunities within these communities. However, I also believe reforms are needed to ensure that enough is being done to protect habitats and species.

Myself and my Liberal Democrat colleagues are strongly against the illegal persecution of hen harriers and other birds of prey. If cases are identified, an investigation must follow and the law must be upheld. Cases of serious animal welfare crimes must be dealt with in away that reflects the distressing nature of these crimes. This is why Liberal Democrats in parliament are supported increasing the maximum penalty for the most serious animal and wildlife crimes to five years imprisonment and an unlimited fine.

We support all movements towards sustainable land management to help us meet our environmental and climate change targets.

Another thing to possibly mention, the BBC is currently on the back foot with the recent pro gaza documentary involving a hamas official son, it was made by an independent production company (sound familiar?) and they are being slated for not fact checking. Looks like the excuse they use for packham doesn't always work, will the comms team be looking at this angle for the next wj saga
I don't know. They are the comms experts and I trust them to decide what is best day by day and planning ahead - with welcome feedback from members like yourself.

Thanks for this, I will pass it onto our political team.

Done

We are losing one of the major players in East Lothian soon with all keepers out on notice

Rewilding is the reason I’m hearing
Writing is very clear on the wall

And ! It turned out to all be false , new factor and has brought in a new team of keepers !,
Apparently telling everyone it’s going rewilded made them all find new jobs elsewhere! Saved paying anyone off anyway.

All sounds underhanded to me.
