After a bit of a walk into a big deep gully a couple of hinds appeared right at the wrong time, for one it was getting a bit late for the available light and two they came out of a part of the gully that I thought they wouldn't and I had set my tripod up on the wrong side of a patch of cover between the deer and me.
A 30C day here today had the underfoot leaves crackling and the deer were ranged at 87 metre`s so the move to the new vantage point was excruciatingly ****ing slow. They were in deep fern and even though they looked rich chestnut in the bino`s they didn't offer much in the way of a clean video shot. I was of the thought that a stag may appear but that didn`t eventuate. Only intermittent glimpses as they fed about the gully floor were offered.
After some time one hind saw me as I switched to her with the bino`s I saw that she was staring intently at me, yeah right, frig this as by then it was way too dark but I could see her clearly in the Swarovski`s with a clear line of sight but too dark for the camera. She started to bell and every time I got the camera running she stopped then started when I turned it off..aaaargghh. Finally standing and waving my arms around I got a couple of honks...whoopee!
The point of the second video is to show how really good glass is really better than good glass in poor light,as mentioned above I could see her clearly in the Swaro`s as she stood front on giving me the Sambar stare. The little camera had a fail.

A couple of Sambar bells to hear.

Hiya John

Interesting clips as usual. I couldnt see the 2nd deer in the first clip at all..........
However, the 2nd clip was far, far worse, could see booger all until you looked up at the treeline! Wretchedly dark with many strange noises......

L

PS - viewed twice!

Second clip was to record the 'honks' for the UK lot mainly and to show how dark it was yet I could see the deer in the bino`s.
