Torness

Came past Torness heading up to Kinross area for a few days on the geese. Just past the power station there was a deer in a field, alone. Far too big for roe and a strange colour. What else is about there? Possibly red hind, sika or fallow? Anyone stalk that way?It was a few hundred away but definitely not roe.

Fallow.

There’s a population of somewhere between 250-500 fallow in East Lothian, released as a birthday present to a landowner a while back. Can be seen all along the low ground between Torness and Tranent, though the main concentration is around Tyninghame.

Worked in that station for over 30 yrs and beat less than a mile away from it many days a week
Never ever seen anything except Roe in that area
The Fallow are around Whitekirk area.

I’d be astounded if they were in that area , but not gutted as I stalk there as well 😂

I have heard several people claim to have seen them as far West as Sherrifhall roundabout. I’m not sure I believe that, but I’m willing to believe the odd wanderer has gone as far as Torness. If one got stuck south and east of the A1087, it could easily keep moving east trying to find open ground.
