I've a Photon RT and inbuilt IR is kind of meh, how would this be for that or would you recommend something different for it

It would be perfect for that as I used it for the same scope. You can adjust the beam nicely, no white-out, realistically its good to 200 yards and no more really.

If you want to shoot out further than that, I would suggest something else. Whether be an nm800, a solaris.. a PBIR etc. All good.
