Training for complete beginner

Lots of good suggestions. My tuppence, if you don't have a lot of gun experience, would be to think about a local rifle club, ideally light sporting rifle. Lots and lots of cheap trigger time is a good thing for familiarity, discipline and muscle memory.

Thanks for your time earlier and I appreciate all the pointers you've given me.

I am taken back by how welcoming and helpful everyone's been since I started posting, so thank you. I'm really excited to get out there and start stalking!

Firstly welcome to the SD.

The DSC 1 is a good course to start with. However before investing in this why not talk to a local provider who offers stalking and talk through your requirements with them and even book a stalk with them to see if its for you.
@sikamalc would be a good person to contact and is reasonably close to you.
Or if you fancy a trip away for a few days try @IanF training and accommodation.

This. Was the route I took some years ago (with the addition of some other family and friends help) and stood me in good stead.

Hi All
Just to add my twopennies worth. Where I live in Cumbria and when I was starting out the FEO would not issue me with any FAC until I had joined a shooting club and done 8 training sessions with the club. Not a bad thing I suppose and learnt a fair bit from club members and made some new friends so its win win win. Also would not give me a Deer Rifle until I had done my DSC1
