Yah , I used to do that too. I used to just use some baking paper and some sellotape , it worked really well but took longer to package all of the meat and so I bought a vac packer . I think that if you’re just dealing with a few deer every year then the baking paper is perfectly acceptable and to be commend too.
I just wish that there was a biodegradable alternative to these bags. On the plus side though, the venison I package in plastic vac pac bags has probably got the lowest carbon hoof print on the planet.
