Vacuum Sealers at Lidl

Lidl have Silvercrest Vacuum Sealers back in stock for £19.99 at the moment if anyone is after one. Cheap as chips but ideal for home use - had mine for 3 years now and still working fine. Also spare sealer rolls for £4 if you’re running out :thumb:
Had mine for years too. Some more rolls won’t go amiss though. Thanks for the heads up

Same here had mine a couple of years and has been excellent. Will get some more rolls tomorow.

Thanks gents. Very tempted. Guess venison stays in the freezer longer if vaccum sealed and saves space as well. Curious as to how everyone does it though.

I have two also. One was in France and then went to Nigeria for six weeks to pack and bring back bitterleaf and the other here in UK. They are very robust. I get my bags from Nisbet's. Not so good at liquids however. But great for poached fish as you can with the right bags "boil in the bag".

I went to butchers bags, just found the whole vac pack heat seal so time consuming. Butchers bags are about £10 /1000. Not had freezer burn yet.

As I say I’ve had mine for three years with no real issues and very pleased with it. One possible wee tip though - only time it played up was when the foam seal around the vacuum port displaced slightly (green light stayed on an pump continued running as it couldn’t reach correct pressure drop) - simply pressed seal back in place and straight back in action :thumb:

Watch out that the material is embossed and not plain. It will not work in Aldi/Lidle machines. I bought quite a few plain bags from Butchers sundries on the bay, they seal but do not vacuum the air out.

Willowbank.

Embossed side down. Sometimes if the bag is creased they wont automatically seal. Mine was busy today doing frozeen chicken breasts as 1 kg packs were massively reduced in Morrisons on x mas eve. Freeze individually on a tray and when solid then vacuum pack.

I use Nisbet's in my Silvercrest. They have an embossed effect to them. But work out at 50p per bag or so. However when in Nigeria we just went down to the market and got some sheet polythene and made our own bags. You just have to get initially the time right by trial and error to make the sealed seams. So ordinary polythene sheet can be used.
