Velocities from different primers?

I’ve always used CCI Large Rifle Primers, but seem to be struggling to get hold of them now. I swapped to MagTech but found my velocities dropped by 100fps… Has anyone else experienced this? Are some primers known to be ‘hotter’ than others?

RWS primers seem to be readily available, so considering trying those.

I'm currently using RWS/RUAG large rifle primers in my .243. I've found them consistent and pretty close to CCI BR2.
Different makes of primer do have different brissance. The Guru 'Laurie' did a huge trial some years ago comparing a load of different primers. See link below.....

Out of interest, have you found the RWS primers ‘hotter’ than CCI counterparts?

I found them hotter than the CCI #200 myself

Noticeable recoil difference also

Not recorded against CCI but:
3 x 5rd groups. RWS = MV Average 3281fps and ES Average 11. Fiochi = Average MV3270fps and ES Average 68. Rem 9 1/2= Average MV3261fps and ES Average 93.
Also the RWS are a tighter fit in Norma brass than the others.
