when out stalking this morning I slipped into a burn and my set up got totally submerged. to say I was raging would be understatement of the year:banghead:......
thankfully my rifle and scope seem fine but my mod has water trapped in it. have been shaking it all day and only a few drops are coming out each time.
is there a way of stripping it? or any advice on what to do would be much appreciated.

many thanks
ally

Dont think they come apart try leaving it on a radiator or use the hair dryer to dry it out !

get a can of wd40 and blast it through from both ends. hold it over the sink or take it outside and shake it like hell! then leave it overnight sat on its rear end on a good pad of kitchen roll. at the next opportunity go and fire half a dozen zero checking rounds through it and job sorted!!

Shake it like hell, take the plastic bush out, stick it in the oven on a low heat for awhile. Couple of blasts with WD40 and job's
a good 'un.

how do I get the plastic bushing out? it seems tight as hell...got the oven on....

It should unscrew but you need a broad headed screwdriver or a piece of flat bar the width of the bush.

you don't need to put it in the oven, the wd40 will disperse any moisture inside whilst at the same time cleaning the baffles and helping prevent internal rusting. when you fire a few shots through that will evaporate any excess oil or moisture. best to leave the bus in situe as you might bust it trying to get it out!

got it off and the mod is cooking... might have to wait a while for dinner though...
thanks guys..

Next time just stop at a garage/workshop on the way home and ask to borrow the airline, give it a good blast of air.

Neil. :)

Certainly the oven will dry it out. You did mark the bush and the mod so they align to the same place. Can throw the zero out a little otherwise.

Please see Doomsayers thread.

What happens if the poor guy DID mark up as you suggest and, thanks to heat, wear, time or torque, the marks no longer line up?

Doom!

DOOM, Hardly but it may take several more shots to get back on zero, as you will discover when you try it. Sitting the T8 on a radiator would suffice to dry it out and squirt of oil to finish.

Put your oven on on a low heat and cook it until the water evaporates.

Always carry out this little operation, after wet nights foxing, just be aware that "LOW" oven means just that, check by touching the mod with your hand to get just the right amount of heat, as mods with non metal parts can suffer from prolonged overheating.

The bushing should NOT be in contact with the barrel - there should be a .005" to .010" gap over the entire circumference - thats assuming the bore is central to the barrel outside diameter.....

Take off the bushing stand up in oven and on lowish heat - 100 degrees, leave long enough for all water to disperse.

Once done and cooled give a V light application of WD40 inside and replace bushing

Sorry to hijack this thread but my T8 unscrews into about 4-5 different parts. Should this not be the case or are there different models that do disassemble?

I think your thinking of the P8. The T8 is of steel and is of welded construction.
