Wax cotton or ventile jacket - tall/long

So, I am 6' 4" with a 47 inch chest, 36 inch waist, and any clothes long enough in the body are usually several inches too short in the sleeve. Arguably worse than that is the couple of feet of extra fabric around the body. Most larger sizes tend to be wider rather than longer.

I like wax cotton or double ventile for rough cover, but finding something long enough that doesn't look and feel like I'm wearing a bell tent is a challenge.

I've been down the road to look at Barbour but their current stuff looks like a poor cousin compared to what I was buying from them thirty years ago.

Anyone have any suggestions ?

Hilltrek, but be prepared to pay the ‘tall guy’ penalty to have length added in the sleeve and tail!

Look at the Scandinavian brands. I'm 6'2" with long arms & back & 36" waist too & it's only the expensive brands like Norrona that actually fit me

Try looking a ridgline or musto

I have use a musto goretex coat now, but also in Didrikson jackets, i also have seen hoggs do a long length jacket. but not able to comment.

Thanks for the replies - Hilltrek looks very interesting.

I would rather stay with ventile or wax cotton for this particular use. The go-faster breathable stuff doesn't last two minutes in thick cover in darkest Northumbria...

My last two Barbour jackets were ade to measure about 30 years ago and lasted best part of three decades, before being chewed to the point of being irrepairable by my last lab pup. Their current stuff looks tat compared to the old gear.

I will arrange an appointment to drop into Hilltrek and discuss requirements and see if they are willing to adjust something to fit. I like the look of their "Cruachan DV Extreme Smock" and "Glencoe DV Jacket"

Hilltrek for me. 6ft 5 and 38 waist so I got an XL smock and had 1" added to sleeve and body length... perfect.

They will do anything you want, its all made to order. Yes expensive... but you know its going to fit and will last for ages.
