Great news! We have just managed to secure up to 6 places on a very successful Moose hunting club ground for an exciting chance to take part in their opening hunt of the 2013 season. This is a highly respected moose club who's grounds are only 75 miles north of Helsinki. Being the first hunt of the season, the grounds will be undisturbed and the Moose will be naturally distributed throughout the area. You will be guests of the club and experience true Finish Moose hunting!

Moose hunting in Finland is done the original way, with Moose dogs that will find the Moose and move them out towards hopefully the hunters stands. Each hunter will be able to hear the dog when it has contact with a moose because of the barking which is the signal a Moose is in the drive. When the moose moves the dog moves with the moose and does not bark. Then again when the moose stands still the dog will bark and the hunters will hear it, most of the time. It is a very exiting way of hunting, and you can feel your adrenalin race in your veins when you experience the dog bark getting closer and closer. The Moose is truly wild animal and no guarantees can be made that you will shoot a moose or see one especially if you can’t stay quiet, they are much smarter then they look!

A typical moose hunting day will start about 8 in the morning with a briefing which will be done every day. Thereafter we will go out in the hunting areas for the first drive of the day. After two or three shorter drives we will have lunch out in the wild. This will be with a camp fire and time to talk about the day so far. After a relaxed lunch we will head out for more drives in the afternoon. The amount of the daily drives depends on various things such as number of animals shot, seen and other things that can influence the drives. Typically there will be about 2-4 drives daily. After the last drive all hunters will get picked up and we will drive back to the cabin and start the preparations for dinner, and of course the sauna will be warmed. After relaxing sauna and a good meal we relax chat about the day and after a few beers or something more of a blast, it will be time for a good sleep.

The hunting can guarantee beautiful countryside, great company and a genuine chance to see and shoot for Moose. This is not to mention the lasting memories and other wildlife and excitement of the hunt. It should not be expected that every hunter will see a Moose but on a normal hunt there will be several chances for Moose to be shot.

Don't know any details so this is a guesstimate:

If the location is 75 miles north from Helsinki, the drive should be even less. The location should be somewhere between two main highways, one NW and other NE from Helsinki. So it would be up to one hour (100km / 60 miles) of highway and then smaller roads for half an hour or so.

I am just in the middle of writing up the horrendous experience myself and 17 fellow hunters endured hunting with these amateurs

It was a rip off in every detail which I will be explaining in depth when I have finished writing it up.

In our case after handing over 18k we had people sleeping on sofa's and in loft spaces and for lunch after handing over a 140 Euros each x18 for the three days we had a bag of sausages opened up for us to heat over an open fire on the first day and a apple and bag of family crisps to pass round the next day. No tea or coffee but a cold beer if you wanted one.
Just what you need after being still for three to four hours in -2 to +5 degrees

Every one of the 18 hunters complained every evening on the first two days so please speak with one of them if you know somebody that went.

Hunting in over 80,000 acres can you imagine the one time a big bull moose was seen and could be shot the hunter was told not to shoot as it was now on a reserve .

As for the dogs... with a personal radio and ear piece each can you imagine when we here Christian saying " Guns be ready, the dogs are barking, we have a Bull Moose in the drive" then Mick (the sausage) saying " The fekin dogs sat on me lap and the other ones licking Fran"

Another time after three hours into a drive and the dogs barking we do get a break on the line but its a Reindeer with one of the dogs ragging its leg...

Wait till you have read the write ups before handing any money over to these guys gents
