Well done to Essex rural crime unit

This was told to me by my neighbour this morning.

Yesterday while defrosting her car to head off to work she noticed a car pull up with 2 blokes and some long dogs. One got out with the dogs and met a third bloke at the entrance to the park which leads onto farmers fields and is within throwing distance of the our houses. She called the rural crime unit and said "I think we have some hare coursers" they were on the scene within 20-30mins searching for them As was the farmer who owns the fields there.

Couldn't find them, but they kept in contact with her the whole time, and when she had to go to work she advised what car the farmer was in so they could link up with him also.

Can't fault them for that response, especially given we are a small and fairly remote village. Hopefully a sign of the times and that this will be taken more seriously.

P.S. still saw a few hares running around this morning so hopefully the coursers didn't do to well

So she saw some dog walkers and no one was coursing hares ?

Hardly a good job done when there was no job to do ?
we have a problem with coursers here, the farmer confirmed that there was evidence of them on his fields where there is no reason for anyone to be

The police responded appropriately and in a timely manner. Maybe they were just dog walkers that had gone off the track? Maybe they were coursers? the police arrived to try and find out. So I would say again, well done them.

Maybe a step back and look at the bigger picture may be helpful in understanding why I would say well done to them

I know what the bigger picture is.
Lurcher men are the devil and to be disassociated with at all cost incase they try to ban shooting as well.

That picture ?

I never said that?

The big picture is that the police responded in a reasonable time to potential coursing. Coursing is not allowed on these farms, how do I know, because I know the person who has permission to shoot on the farm as does my neighbour. My Neighbour has lived here all her life and knows the farmer, knows what to look out for and as i've said they have had problems with coursing here before.

Or should we just turn a blind eye because we don't want to point any attention to them?

Always look for the positives in this incident. The local community, the local Farmer, the local Police all working together||

They may well have been "Dog Walkers", but look at the wider picture!!, beware of "The Trojan Horse".

I say well done, I hope any one of us would have done the same thing, and of course keeping the local Farmer in the loop, and happy that some one is concerned about possible villians on his land doing a "Recce" perhaps, nice quad there, oh and look at that new mini digger, easy to get on the back of a pickup etc. You never know, and perhaps your good name will get you mentioned at the local pub during a conversation between land owners/farmers, well done that person, by the way chaps does that person who told you about this incident know anyone who can sort some pigeons/foxes out for me??

Just a thought or two

Patrick

T Eddie its my understanding that the farms out your way seem to contact each other when something like that happens anyway
we dont seem to be so lucky on our syndicate land the police almost never turn out and when they do its a day or so later
sorry one turned up one night in a patrol car and stated he wasnt going anywhere near the fields/mud because these were the only shoes he had and needed to wear them for the rest of his shift

Im not sure about them contacting each other, but they have been here long enough in the same family for the majority of people here to know who they ate which i've no doubt helps. It is a shame the same response isn't everywhere. The rural team round here seem to be in trucks and happy to go where they need to which is also a plus

Hare coursing is illegal anywhere in England…

You associate with cannibals?!?

I’m not sure where you are in Essex but I had problems out that way and it would have been easier to get a doctors appointment now than get the police to do anything!
