What .22LR for work/play?

Just got my ticket back with a slot for a .22LR, Im thinking of a bolt action just for rabbits/work as I’m a keeper. Looking probably at the Cz 455 or perhaps the tikka T1 which seems to become popular since its release. I have a Remington 597 semi auto (less said about it the better) so only looking at bolt actions. Any others to consider? Cheers Jim

Browning T-Bolt if you wanted something a bit quirky, don’t think you can go wrong with the Tikka or CZ though. I do use a Sako Finnfire HMR which is a joy so another possibility but is it worth the extra pennies.............

Bolt action workhorse, no point looking much further than a CZ to be honest. I have a ZKM 2E 452 Varmint that's now 22 years old, has never missed a beat and still looks as good today as the day I bought it. With a £12 trigger kit it's as nice to shoot as any other out there. They're popular for a reason.

I've given the question a bit more thought and this is what I would add.
I've owned and shot a CZ452 or a previous model Brno for more years than I can recall. They have always been wooden stocks and never had any issues with them whatsoever. However as its a synthetic stock that you are after I would be tempted to take a serious look at the Tikka, personally I just don't like the look of the CZ synthetic stock. That's why I would probably go for the Tikka if I were looking to replace my current CZ.

Not knocking them but I've shot the Anschutz also and you can't fault them for accuracy (not that it is significantly any more accurate than either the CZ or the Tikka), while they may be a pleasure to own there are a couple of niggles with the Anschutz design that may make it less suitable as a working rifle. The one being that the safety doesn't lock the bolt shut and the other being a tight chamber that can with some ammo make it a bit of a fuss or even a right pain in the arse to withdraw a chambered unfired round.

+1 on browning T bolt. Quick to reload and the only 22LR I have owned that doesn't jam. Usual good Browning quality and deals to be had. Good rotary mags too, mag fits into stock butt so easy to find when lamping rabbits

If I where to use a 22lr as a work gun... and use it a lot, I would probably go full out..

Anschutz 1710 with 18" barrel
Two stage trigger
Ase Utra moderator
McMillan Anschutz Silhouette stock
Atlas bipod.

Perfect for offhand and prone shooting.

If you are shooting thousands of rounds each year.. it should be a pleasurable experience I belive.
Bolt manipulation and trigger is second to none.

You can buy Anschutz Barreled action and stock it yourself.

What's the complaint with the Remington 597?

I picked up a used one last week and I'm delighted with it. The guy I bought it from told me it cycles subsonics all day long, I tried it with the cheap bulk pack of Federal 36 grain and it hasn't missed a beat in over a couple of hundred rounds so far and it's accurate.
