What .22LR for work/play?

as a right-handed person ever thought of using a uni stock with a left-handed bolt? it's very quick on varmint of sticks or bipod as your right hand never leaves the trigger so you are on the next one very very quick?
I use a 17hmr on varmint this way and I have a 270 deer cull rifle which also is very effective with the left-hand bolt?
just a thought I would share...
One of the benefits of being left handed using right handed rifles;)

I have a Sako finnfire in .22lr and it’s deadly, favourite gun in the cabinet by far, if you can drop on one cheap enough then it’s defiantly worth a look, triggers are ace, action is nice, accuracy is superb using cci subsonics in mine, only thing to note is the mags have the added Sako tax and are essentially very expensive plastic👍🏻

Just picked up a new T1X and very impressed so far!

Did you get the 16.5" barrel? I bought two of the 20 inch (all I've seen available in the US) and they both drive tacks -literally. I have shot my pair and a friends T1X and all shoot brilliantly. The last time I was out with the "target" configured T1X I put ten shots into 1cm, center to center, off of a bipod at 50 yards with RWS Match. My scope has a very vine reticle which makes shot placement an act of confidence with good ammo. If you come across some, GECO "22LR SEMI AUTO RIFLE" has shot extremely well in both of my T1X. I have shot several different LOTS and all performed well above the price tag. And of course, I clean the actions of my Tikkas but never, ever, the bores.~Muir

Just picked up a 17 mach2 in Sako pro. Build quality is superb, really impressed, going to look for the same in 22, never seen one before mid weight barrel and trigger pull is bang on. - nothing not to like really

Re the Finfire I found a really old book which shows a SS fully suppressed version and similar model 75 in.308 , never seen any available commercially so must be rarer than hens teeth.

Unicorn,
I would be interested to see a copy of that article somehow... phone picture or scan etc by direct message, if that was OK/possible. I have heard about these suppressed versions and have previously googled it, but never found anything.
I have a spare Quad hunter weight 22lr barrel that I am going to get Richard Pope (Midlands gunsmith) to convert to his fully integrally suppressed version (18” finished length probably), that will go on my P94S Finnfire Range and Varmint. He uses carbon fibre tube, so not imitating anything! I may do the 17HM2 barrel as well.

I've given the question a bit more thought and this is what I would add.
I've owned and shot a CZ452 or a previous model Brno for more years than I can recall. They have always been wooden stocks and never had any issues with them whatsoever. However as its a synthetic stock that you are after I would be tempted to take a serious look at the Tikka, personally I just don't like the look of the CZ synthetic stock. That's why I would probably go for the Tikka if I were looking to replace my current CZ.

Not knocking them but I've shot the Anschutz also and you can't fault them for accuracy (not that it is significantly any more accurate than either the CZ or the Tikka), while they may be a pleasure to own there are a couple of niggles with the Anschutz design that may make it less suitable as a working rifle. The one being that the safety doesn't lock the bolt shut and the other being a tight chamber that can with some ammo make it a bit of a fuss or even a right pain in the arse to withdraw a chambered unfired round.
+1
The CZs are very good but the Tikka is the answer. Anschutz are stylish and accurate but nothing like as practical.

For those with a 452 - what ammo do you feed it?

Acknowledging that every rifle is different, over an extended period of time I've used the following in my 452;

Lapua subs - by far the tightest groups with a subsonic round in my rifle.
Fiocchi subs - very good but groups are not quite as tight as Lapua (I am currently using Fiocchi).
Eley subs- very good results with most batches but quality can vary.
Winchester subs - very good, better than Eley (the older design Winchester and not the new heavier bullet).
RWS subs- very good accuracy but expansion doesn't seem so good.

As for absolute best accuracy from my rifle that was achieved with RWS high velocity and RWS R50, both non expanding rounds. Consistent 5 round groups using both at 100yds that could be covered by a 1" patch. That was some time ago before I had my 20" barrel chopped to 13" and I haven't used anything but subs since then. I don't think that my rifle is at all ammo sensitive. Good ammo and you get good results.

Both my 452 varmint & American would post 1/4" 5 shot groups overall at 50yds with the earlier Eley extra subs, the later 40 grain subs became a little spotty consistency wise. Never got around to trying the latest Eley 38gr offerings as i've sold them both and wish i hadn't, especially the varmint which was a true sub moa gun . Now on the look out for another .22, but want a bit of fun factor too......considering the Ruger target tactical but not sure of the accuracy potential?
Don't need the long range potential of my old varmint ( covered by my Annie hmr ) but i'd be happy with 1/2" ish at 50yds if that's a realistic expectation?

Annie XIV carbine in thumbhole walnut with a parker hale or similar moddy. Short and compact fantastic trigger will do everything you need and more. 10 shot mag x2. Old eley subs or winnie subs. bunnies out to 100 yds with suitable scope.

I real fancy trying the RWS R50 and also Lapua subs in my rimfires. Pretty sure getting the RWS wont be an issue but have just checked the Lapua website and it would appear they dont do a hollow point subsonic? Does anyone know whether this is the case and also any stockists of Lapua subs (preferably southern half of the UK)?
