What 4X4

Hilux, without a doubt. I have had mine for 8 years now and it has never missed a beat, money spent other than tyres and service, a new back end for the exhaust. I am contemplating a new one next year but to be honest with you I would just be throwing money away. The way it is running now it will probably be good for at least another 4 years problem free use and I can honestly say it has had a fairly hard life.:-D

I think the bottom line is you need to test drive the ones you like, and see what "YOU" personally prefer, because all of the that main makes are going to be pretty good.

I wanted a very capable off road truck, but it's also my daily driver, so I wanted something less agricultural. For me, the Amarok won by a country mile.

A year, & 17k on, I still love it, just wish I had a lighter right foot.

I have a Navara, and have had no problems; it does the job fine on road and off (with proper tyres), but ground clearance is not great- especially at the back.
My next truck will be a Hilux though. Having had them before, they are better machines. They are also more expensive, and service intervals are short, which adds up.
For a lease that shouldn't be an issue though.

I can assure you that lessees pick up the tab for servicing and maintenance costs, whether they realise it or not!
Very true but the lease that I have it's up to me if I service it or not,but this would affect the warranty if it is not done. It would all so affect the value at the end of the lease treat the truck well and the more you get at the end treat it badly and the less you get.
I had a brand new ford ranger 3.2 Ltd truck this year and had it on lease for the first time and I can not knock it.I pay £225 a month which is £2700 a year with no deposit,if I was to hand it back after the first year it would have cost £2700 if I had paid cash for the truck and went to sell it after the first year I am sure I would have lost more than £2700! This is the first lease I have had and would have another a brand new truck delivered to my door 3 year warrenty 15000 miles a year for £225 a month suits me. This is the second ranger I have had and does every thing if have asked it to do on and of road I drive to Italy twice a year and all ways go in the truck.

I bought a pre registered Hi-lux Invincible in July. Saved £4k on the price of a brand new one, only one month old with 5 miles on the clock. I asked about the HL3 as I didn't need all the spec as a shooting/day to day vehicle but they don't pre register that model and a new one actually came in more expensive than the pre registered Invincible.

Ive now done 6000 miles in it. I like every single thing about it except the power! It seems strangled for a 3l engine when trying to put the foot down and have been told by a friend its down to the euro emissions rating in that model so may looked at getting it chipped/mapped...

I went to the Toyota from a Landrover County 90, a 96' model. There is obviously no comparison regards comfort but what is very surprising is just how well the pick-up copes with muddy and wet fields and forestry. It still has the original road bias tyres on it and in low box 6" deep mud, wet grass on some really steep inclines, forestry machinery ruts etc have not stopped it. I would guess that ground similar to that is what most of us refer to when describing 'off road' therefore I would suggest that ground clearance aside any pick-up you go for will cope with what you throw at it.

Over the years I have had 3 land rovers, 2 Isuzus and an L200. Friends all run similar motors and the comment I keep hearing time after time is Toyota is the one to go for...

A kia sorento diesel if they are tight on the money or the G class mercedes.... Can't say enough good about a KIA tho.....

As per the OP - it has to be a 4x4 pickup to qualify for UK tax reasons. Even better if it has a 1 tonne payload from the factory and better than that if still has 1 tonne payload after a canopy is fitted - qualifies as a 'van' for tax purposes.

I have the L200 and love it as it does everything I ask of it but my next one will be a Toyota Hilux for sure!

Ive had them all over the years except the vw, and im now on my 3rd hi-lux and i can sure say my next truck will be an hi lux as well!

Drive all the trucks and pick the one that fits you your needs and budget. I don't care what any one says all have their pros and cons even the holy Hilux as the farm manager had a new one this year and one month after he had it the gear box had a major fault and was with out it for 6 weeks !

This will get you anywhere and tow a load if needed.

Though turning from a typical narrow back road into a field where the gate doesn't fully open will be fun. Make sure you've a C or C1 entitlement on your driving licence, an HGV Operator's "O" Licence, HGV Operating Centre, maintenance schedule, etc etc

Lol

I actually hunt with a 2013 Subaru Outback wagon. Its AWD and has a cargo rack to put the deer. Not sure if there available in UK but is a great hunting vehicle. Gets 26 miles per gallon.
