What a morning!!!!!!

Well me and my mate went out for a walk on Sunday morning.

We split up and went our seperate ways.

I seen a few groups of sika with 2 or 3 cracking stags amongst them, but couldn't get close enough for a shot.

Nearing the end of my walk I seen a group of 11 hinds - I sat down and watched them as they were a couple of hundred yards away but they were gradually feeding closer.

I was just about to stand up and go back to meet my mate when the large stag came over the top of the hill.

I let him come to around 150 yards.

He stopped broadside on and I shot him in the chest. He ran about 60 yards before falling.

I dragged him back to our meeting point and my mate said he had shot 2 Sika Stags and a roe buck.

All in all a great morning and cannot wait to get back out to do it all again.

:)

Good work, your strike rate on sika is very impressive, I reckon 1 roe per 2 outings but 1 sika per 5 outings!

Yeah never really seen them much from May-Jul NickJ but now they are everywhere.

You been out lately?

Also heard a stag whistling at weekend!!!

Consumed by envy. There is sika in the forest I stalk, but never the right animal seems to present itself...
Congratulations!

Hoping to this weekend, alas not sika though I'm afraid.

Sika rut back on here in NW England these last couple of days with slightly cooler weather but the locals reckon we need a frost to really get them going and that the rut here in NW England can go on right through to the middle of November if it stays mild at the front end.
