What Do You Say 'slash?

This is probably not much use to most of you punters but it might stimulate the senses just a little bit. Was browsing through a used firearms site last night. It's an Aussie site run by the Sporting Shooters Association. A Sako AI .222 Rem New-In-Box, unfired (by owner) and stored since purchase in 1981.

Price in AUD is 3500:- which is about GBP 2000:- and USD 2400:- at present exchange rate. A new Sako85 Hunter costs about AUD 3100:- at the moment. I think I would pay the price but I already have an AI and the Boys in Blue would most certainly frown upon me asking for a second one.

What fascinates me is why someone would buy a rifle, put it in storage and leave it there for 42 years. Love to hear the story behind that.

Cheers

Got a BRNO ZH 12G-8x57R 12 years ago never yet fired it.
Got a Tikka T3 30-06 5 years ago never yet fired it.
Got a Winchester mod 70 supreme .338 win mag 11 years ago never yet fired it.
I can so I do, it might be my protest to be coming here from the UK and after 8 years in the USA.
Muir might think of it as a a good investment.

This is why you shoot very little......

I have handled quite a few vintage airguns , still apparently un-shot and in the original packing box . In a nation that doesn't have licence renewals or a need to prove use i can fully understand , its always a risk fiscally because cartridges get discontinued and laws change in most nations . Look at the Canada AR grab for example , quite a handy thing when you are looking to fill your larder or gather Fur , with some things like Bear and wolf , wolverine on the list
