Hi Duncs,
I read 'Big and Busty' and 'Shaven Ravers'. At a push I’d go for 'Sporting Rifle'. I just wish they would resurrect the 'Stalking' magazine, now that was a good read.

Svensk Jakt and Jakt & Jägare. In your local paper shop now.
Is Shaven Ravers one of those wrapped in plastic on the top shelf. I hate it when you can't have a little peek before you buy.

Every month my little bit of country porn drops through the door. I can't help it, I'm an addict. I can't live without The Field. I know, ideas above my station but it's only place you can find highland estates advertised...I have to have my monthly drool.

Trouble is, it doesn't end there...then theres the Shooting Gazette which I find difficult to resist when I see it. Then good old ST, it's the only one they sell in the local garage so you kind of have to get it every few weeks. Sporting Rifle when I have to go to Inverness...really should get a subscription. Farmers Weekly as old habits die hard...and my boy likes to look at the machinery (OK, I do too)

I get Shooting Times on subscription, and usually buy Sporting Rifle (getting better, if slowly) and Sporting Shooter. Sporting Gun is drivel, Gun Mart is even worse.

Like Stone, I think Sporting Rifle's getting better all the time. And yes, like Stone I also won a subscription courtesy of the site so I would say that wouldn't I!

I buy Shooting Times every few weeks, but it can be a bit 'samey' if you read it every week. For 'gun porn' I think Shooting Gazette is as good as it gets.

But The Field has the top totty ...........

Nah Jagare mate, it' a magazine for bald disco dancers! I can't imagine what you were thinking about. ;)
ps Beo & Jagare - a chap who doesn't take a razor to his face before going to a dance deserves everything he gets (or doesn't get for that matter) 8)

Thanks all. Looks like it will be sporting rifle.
(ps. Had sporting shooter since it started...but sadly got a bit "samey" and seemed to push towards clay shooters.)

Unfortunately, since the demise of the Stalklng Magazine five years ago, there isn't anything out there dedicated to stalking so I buy Sporting Rifle or Wa@@@rs Weekly as my wife calls it :)

The only other shooting magazine I buy is the Shooting Times when the Roe and Red Reviews appear.

I can still spend hours flicking through my Stalking Magazines.

Now, there's a thought.

That magazine had regular contributions from the likes of Dominic Girffiths, Ian Alcock etc.

Would the publishers of Sporting Rifle contact them to see if they would be interest in submitting the occasional article or, better still a regular feature?

I think what everyones pointing to and what perhaps should be pointed out to the 'editor' of sporting rifle is that the articles and the 'editing' are sadly lacking. Don't know where they dredged up some of the contributors, but for my money most can go back whence they came.

It is improving slowly and maybe its suffering from a lack of submissions so they have to print what they can get.

Personally I'd love to see an account or two in there from Sikamalc both at home and abroad plus the contributions of one or two other members who frankly have written mini articles on here that put pieces in SF to shame.

Oh and they can ditch Peter wotsisface too as he's had far too much advertising already and his face annoys me...

and yes before someone says it I would be prepared a piece myself: I wonder what they pay per article.....?

I would like to see a competition on here for article writing. The four or so best articles get printed in the Sporting Rifle.

I read one article about a chap who wrote about what dvd’s he had watched and how bored he was, sat in a caravan all weekend because it was too stormy outside to stalk! Unbelievable! I wonder how much he got paid for penning that classic. :???:

Has anyone read my little story 'Up The Hill And Back Again'? Its somewhere in the dusty corner of the General Discussion section. Not a bad read.....'I'm waiting for Speilberg to phone me for the film rights.

sorry mole
it takes me that long to type that i missed your posting as frax and i were so engrossed so apoligies for excluding you
yes i agree the shooting times does seem to go in circles about every couple of years the sam articles seem to appear but for a weekly it probaly is hard to keep things interestying as when the season has ended and all we want to read about it shooting
i don't get the gazette but i hav seconds from a mate, faces from the field seems to be the one to be on
one day rodney one day
