What the "REMAINS" don't want to tell us!

This was from a shooting buddy on his way back from LeMans yesterday

"Yesterday we drove through the port of Calais and I can honestly say it has been turned into a war zone. I was forced to navigate along a road strewn with rocks thrown over the fences by the immigrants. The aim was to cause total mayhem. Huge holes cut in the fences are being guarded by the police. Tear gas was billowing everywhere. Young men playing catch and mouse with the Police while trying to get into the Lorries. Will the E/U vote on Thursday sort this out... You tell me? Glad to be home safe!"

Think back to the lies, manipulation, and cynical hearts-and-minds offensive the Westminster Triumvirate peddled in the run-up to the Scottish Independence Referendum. Then cast your mind back to just how quickly their desperate promises turned to contempt, back-peddling and broken promises in the very first hours following the result. The Scottish people were lied-to, duped, and misled on a criminal level by the same shower now raining promises of milk and honey if we stay in the EU, and dire threats of the sky falling in if we leave. And we've continued being lied to, duped, and misled on a criminal level by the very party voted-in to protect Scotland's interests following the Independence Referendum. I don't trust a single one of them, in any party, or either country. . . . Liars, cheats, thieves and self-serving egotists, the lot of them. If they tell you one thing, you can lay money the opposite is true. And I'd bet my eyes that the fact both Cameron and Sturgeon want the same thing is the very best reason for the ordinary man-in-the-street to vote for the exact opposite. THAT premise is what I'm basing my vote upon, for better or for worse

+1 all true dat..john

I think as soon as vote is in to remain there will be a lot of EU stuff comes out that has been hidden and EU's attitude towards UK will get even worse.

I really hope folk find the courage to vote to leave but i think too many will have slight nagging doubts/fear and as soon as get in booth it will be too much and vote to remain

is there not a famous old political quote something along the lines of 'if voting really changed things we wouldn't let u do it'

Even the Daily Mail printed the same story.

When you're wounded and left on Europe's' plains,
And the grunts come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

Should be another tick box; Leave - Because government wouldn't let us have the choice if it was really bad for the country or the economy.

The best quote I have herd so far is that for people who actualy understand how the EU works the out arguments are like listning to creationists sgesting God made the world and everything in it

I have read through this thread and read the same old misguided rhetoric

This video is perhaps the most clear and concise sumation of the real situation.

Forget what might happen, look at what has already taken place.
the Persian empire
the Roman empire
the Caliphate
the Mongol empire
the British empire

where are they today? Gone. Finished. All failed for one reason or another. It is a fact that every single attempt to unify and control large areas of land and people have failed throughout history. Even in a relatively liberal society the need for individual identity is strong and cannot be denied.
Why is Europe any different to any other failing empire?
Germany tried and failed to absorb a large part of Europe by force....twice....and part of my grandad lies on the fields of France defending this countries position in the second conflict.
Ive worked throughout Europe, India/Pakistan/Bangladesh etc and thoughout Scandinavia and the US. Britain and Britishers are identified by singularly British ideals and ethics and they will continue to be better respected throughout the WORLD if we leave this sham of a united Europe.

If one is looking at precedents and learning from history...Nationalist rhetoric didn't end too well 70 years ago.

My dad was blown up in France too...he obviously survived physically. But it was only after the government finally admitted that war could damage the mental health when the PTS syndrome was invented after the Falklands war, that he was assessed and awarded a pension to compensate him for a lifetime of terrors...just a pity that he was then over seventy and most of his mates had not survived long enough to be compensated.

The EU isn't an empire. Every independent member state in it chose to join. It's a ridiculous comparison.

Sorry but this is simply not accurate. We were denied the opportunity to vote on the last 3 treaties that effectively turned the common market into the united states of Europe. No one in this country under the age of 60 has ever had the chance to vote and directly affect our position in Europe.

As for disregarding history as 'ridiculous' - that has been done many times before and not without some semblance of logic but the 20s and 30s in Europe spring immediately to mind

OK, but we voted in all the governments that have made those treaties, as per our parliamentary democracy. No country is in the EU because it was invaded, blackmailed, or coerced. Every member state has applied for membership freely according to whatever democratic process is specified in their constitutions. And for us that's representative government, which is our own home grown problem if we don't like it, not the EU's. There's just no sensible way of arguing that the EU is or aspires to be an empire.

Whilst a lot is made of the schengen zone and the Euro the greatest achievement was the standardisation of the phone chargers to the mini USB port. Apart from that I'm struggling what else been achieved in 20 years. Australia isn't part of the EU and somehow we are surviving.

Let's take the EU to its logical conclusion which to continually add states east until China joins. Then you will enter a period of the new world order. Screw that.

Obviously

We have only very recently realised the position of a globel econamy. We are probably 20-30 years in to this realisation so very very young

BIG issues like polution, sustainabuility and climate have to be dealt with on a global scale

In 500 years time I have no doubt we will look back and laugh at the fudel fifedums we now are. Children will marvel at the fact 500 years ago there wasnt a single language a single currency and a single centralised government working on a globel plan

They will no doubt think it quaint that some areas try and hold on to a seporate identaty in the same way we do now with the Welsh and the Cornish wanting duel language skills

I am odd in my genoration that I think this way but rest assured my kids think it makes perfict sense.

Too far fetched?

The Chinese have banned all 13 regional dialects of Chinese being taught in school and focused on a single dialect of Manderin

Thats 1.4 Billion people speaking the same language

They also have English as a compulsory language skill

In the EU as a whole we have about 1/3rd the population of China yet we cant comunicate with each other.

Who do you think will have the advantage in the future?

China has an unelected centralised goverment with control over regional areas for something 3 X the size of the EU.

They can redistribute welth and focus development ultimatly overuling self intrested regional leadership for the greater good of the state as a whole.

If you cant see the advantage in that situation then I sugest removing your head from the sand and having a good look at the future.
