Where am I going wrong??

So, an update as requested by @Smellydog

I did a 2nd run, with once fired ppu.
Cleaned, FL resized, primer pockets cleaned, necks chamfered inside and out.

Used the same cci sr primers/ 50gn hornady soft point .224 and Ram TAC.

Did 2 rounds of each from 22grain up to 24.5 grain.

22grain were reading around 2500fps (as last time) so jumped straight up to 23.8gn . Found what looks like a good grouping at 24.1 with velocity of around 2800fps so will probably stick with that.

Decided that ram rac isn't the ideal powder but don't want to waste it 😉

Just as a comparison, (and because I like complicating things) I let the moths out of my wallet and brought some N120.

Loaded up the same spec cases and hornady 35gn vmax , with 20 gn, to 21.8 gn as vhit load data and all velocity readings tied in well , settled on a 20.6 gn running at around 3400fps.

Hopefully the N120 experiment proves no issues with weighing etc?

Have a great evening

Brilliant, well done. That powder isn't for your rifle velocity wise but will still give you something.
You can always try squeezing more in if you wish at a later date.

If you are starting again powder wise, maybe look at RS36 too? I use that for 50 grain monolithics through my T3 20" Tikka and makes 3000 fps and minimum requirements for Munty. Found it delivers the most oommpphh in mine.

N133 drives 50 gr Vmax with rigour......but slightly less than the Reload Swiss.

Do use Lapua brass in mine .222. Primers are a mixture of RWS, CCI and Magtech.

If you are starting out and new to reloading, loading a given "recipe" can be fairly straight forward. Going straight into load development requires more experience. Personally if I wanted the very best round for my rifle I would get the load development done by a professional . He has probably done load development for several rifles of you caliber, has the best of chronograph, access to several powders, a 100M tunnel, experienced in seeing early signs of high pressure. They will find you a good combination, work on charge weight and seating depth, shot in perfect test conditions . Once done you can reload until your heart is content with the full confidence you have a safe, very accurate round.
