Which all round rifle in 6.5 CM

I have a slot for a 6.5 CM and can’t decide which rifle to go for.

I do a bit of deer stalking and foxing, off sticks and a bipod and in some bad weather and mostly walking around with some static shooting.

Ranges will probably be within 200 yards.

I’ve narrowed it down to three choices

Anchutz 1782 Classic pro - possibly too nice for what I do but I like the idea of the bedded stock , the left handed option and the barrel swap option

Mauser M12 Impact - a mate has one and its accurate with a tough finish but not sure if the 20 in barrel is suitable for the creedmoor.

CZ600 Alpha - I like the new features on the rifle and I have had , still have a few CZ rifles and like them.

I’m not a tikka fan so please don’t suggest Tikkas, the stocks don’t fit me plus other things.

Believe the Mauser M12 is a 21.5/22 inch barrel depending where you look.

Plenty accurate with 120gr Sako Blades.

Got one btw - great all rounder - literally bore snake and wipe down for maintenance👍

Great, that’s promising regards the barrel length. Had an M18 previously , nothing wrong with it but the M12 feels like a better quality rifle.

I have the CZ and am very happy with it (in 223). But that’s my “pickup truck floor “ rifle. For me the other two are too nice for everyday use (but that’s just me). If I could, Anschutz out of the three, I’ve handled a few, you feel where the money went.

Didn't know that they did the M12 Impact in 6.5 CM. I've got it in .308 Win which has all I want from an all-round stalking rifle, I particularly like being able to lock the bolt down on a loaded and cocked chamber. I've also got a Bergara B14 BMP in 6.5 CM. I can imagine that the M12 in 6.5 CM will handle and shoot very nicely. Will be interested in what you go for and how you find it.

By locking the bolt down on a loaded chamber, how much do you trust it? Are you happy walking around with it like that?

Great and original choice of rifles there 👍🏻

There’s no manufacturer in the world that makes a bad rifle - it’s just opinions and suitability for local markets… and no one makes a rifle specifically for the little old U.K. market (regardless of what their marketing department tells you 😂)

Any of those three, or pretty much any rifle will do the job - it’s much like cars, watches, golf clubs, etc; nice kit is nice but they all do the same thing, generally the product with the best marketing wins so it’s nice to see someone find a decent trio of original rifles instead of the usual “my mates got a….” 👍🏻

hello if the Sauer 100 is similar to the M18 then I’d probably go for the M12 out of those two.

Same safety rules apply as to all other firearms carried around loaded, cocked and with the safety on. On the M12 with the bolt locked down the bolt can't open and eject a cartridge. Just another level of security.

that Anschutz looks the shizzle. S&L would be a worthy alternative, I'd make the trigger the deciding factor
I've had two 20' creedmoors and its the perfect length for the application you mention

I have the Anschutz 1782 with the Classic Stock, in 6.5 Creedmoor in Left Hand. I love it. As you say it’s basically got an aluminum mini-chassis bedded into the walnut stock and as such, you get the beauty of nice walnut and the absolute stability of the aluminum bedding element. Mine is supremely accurate and thus far I’ve shot it out to 500 yards and can ring a 5” diameter steel disc with regularity. The trigger is excellent and fully adjustable and the repeat of the bolt is very smooth and slick. It’s not especially lightweight because everything in the action is steel and the barrel has a fairly heavy profile. But it’s a real gem to shoot and nice to look at too. Here’s a few pictures of my setup. Let us know what you decide to go with. Probably lots of good options out there.

What a beauty . Thanks for the information it’s really good to know that the bedding makes a real difference . I can take the extra weight for an accuracy gain.

I’m a lefty too, was there much of a wait when ordering?

Good to know regarding the 20’ performance. I looked at S&L and couldn’t see a 6.5 CM in a left handed configuration. If there was then an S&L would be on the list as a mate has one and they are lovely ,accurate rifles.

As far as the wait, I think I had to wait for about 6 months for it. But I’m in the US, and Anschutz only does 2 shipments per year to the USA. So I’m not sure about the situation for you. But regardless, it was well worth the wait for me. It’s everything that they advertised it to be. The smoothness of the action and the full adjustability of the trigger are really something. Upon close examination of the individual parts, the precision and attention to detail is most impressive and I think that also contributes to the accuracy. Have fun on your journey and keep us posted!
