Which thermal LRF?

Hi all,

I know in general thermal threads are done to death, but I’m after some advice a bit more specific to me!

In short, I currently use a Pulsar XM30- this is the original model so not the S or key model and I really like it- it’s not the latest or greatest but it does me fine. I would however like to have the LRF function so am looking for a change. I’m not really looking for the latest and best thermal on the market, I’m just looking for something of the same or similar standard as my xm30, which also has the LRF function, ideally without having to spend a load more!

I’m not specifically looking at pulsar, just whatever the general consensus is as a good thermal to keep an eye out for.

Thanks in advance…

Noc Pix Vista , LRF and low NETD, 640 x 512 Sensor , I am sure you will get many recommendations , Sportsman Gun Centre have some offers on Pard Thermals with LRF, The TA 32 - 35 LRF at £650 from Pards on web site of £1,179, and the Pard TA 62 LRF at £1,229, Although the Noc Pix has a lower NETD value,

Thanks for the quick in-depth answer! Stupid question- what’s NETD?!
Hello, It is the Sensor value , Reading on this i gather that low NETD is better for screen clarity, I might be wrong but Bruce on here may clarify , I know on the AGF Bruces friend Russ is checking out the Pard TA 32 - 35. Like you i am still checking out / Debating which Thermal, So far it is the Noc Pix Lumi L 19 as i do not need LRF, Although the SGC deal on Pard Thermals look good,

I had the Pulsar you have (or maybe it was a Key version) and moved over to an Infiray Finder FH35R V2. The improvement between the two is significant and I really like the Infiray. I think Blackwoods still have them on special offer. Easy to use, good sensitivity and clarity, the LRF is really good. I’m a technophobe and it’s easy to use.

My only (minor) concerns would be (1) battery life, it’s not bad but not as good as the Pulsar, so I’ve bought 2 spares and (2) what kind of SH value will that brand have? Probably academic issue the SH value, as all tech kit is changing fast and I expect to take good hit in the future when I update to a new toy.

Try to handle some units to see how they feel and work for you.

If you buy a HIK Condor CQ35L you will be amazed how good it is compared to your current Pulsar.
I’ve also had at against a few Nocpix thermals and i much prefer the Condors image.

Thanks Flash, realistically I’m in a similar ball park to you money wise. I’d be interested to hear about his findings too if you didn’t mind letting me know? Thanks

Hello, another thing for me would be a seperate Battery and decent Diopter which the Pard and Noc Pix both have ??

I upgraded last year from the Pulsar XM 30 Key to the ATN Blazehunter 635 LRF and it is a major improvement. The little Pulsar's were great for their time and, as mine was secondhand, didn't cost too much. The advantage of the Blazehunter is greater range of detection and greater detection through cover. The LRF function is excellent too. Absolutely no complaints and it is used 3 or 4 times a week, every week.

A used Infiray Finder II FH35 R would be a good buy.

Hello, SGC came back on the Warranty question and said 3 years limited what ever that mean , but he also said the lack of spares and no UK importer ? so i presume RFDs buy direct from Pard ??

I don’t understand why anyone would consider a Pard thermal with all the chops and changes regarding distribution and dealers etc.
Plenty of tried and tested options out there that people can give real
feedback on.

Hello, I agree, Yes it is a shame that Pard has become like that, SGC mentioned parts etc but if purchasing a Thermal Monocular and it goes wrong they would i presume replace with a new one
