Why are people selling Alpex 4Ks so often?

Hi All,

Noticed a lot appearing in the Classifieds - any common reasons for people selling them?

Are people just not liking the digital aspect, or is there something going wrong with them?

Ben

It’s only the LRF models that you see for sale
Very rarely do you see the non LRF model for sale
So I’m guessing that people realise that they don’t need the LRF or they can’t use it,
as in putting all the said information for the ballistic calculations etc
???

everything digital becomes yesterdays technology so quickly and many people always want the next best bit of kit.

Its sometimes not that expensive to upgrade either as the technology can drive down the price of the "next bet thing".

For instance I recently sold a Pulsar C50 and big IR torch and bought a Zulus 5-20. For a cash outlay of £100 I got built in LRF, Ballistic calculator and IR plus saved over 1kg in weight

Could be a variety of reasons:

1. Folk can be IT illiterate (trust me I know - worked in IT for 12 years). The Alpex is essentially a computer and as such, can be difficult to get on with if you don't have a clue what you are doing. The majority of guys I have to help zero their digital scopes are older, and not tech savy. They see others using it and want it, till they realise they have zero idea on how to operate the thing.
2. The daytime image will never beat good glass optics - specially when zoomed in to max magnification it can be a pixelated mess.
3. New models rumoured to be coming out (Nocpix's offering plus new Alpex's rumoured to be in the pipeline).
4. The Alpex 4K Lite is a desirable item - much less weight and a sleeker fit on a rifle for not much compromise in image quality. The original Alpex 4k is a lump of a scope.
5. Selling to fund a thermal scope since they might not like limitations of NV (i.e. having to bolt on an IR torch).

I have 2, or is it 3, yup, definitely 3. All lrf. Not changing anytime soon.
The market has changed and loads of people are moving to digital rather than glass. There are many reasons for this that have been discussed previously. So let’s not go over old ground.
That said, so many sold to the market, people sell them because;
1, they have money, and like the latest all singing all dancing bit of kit. Barstewards.
2, they think that actually, they followed a trend and they prefer glass.
3, there are so many out there, statistically, more people are going buy and sell them.

The market changes, and people follow suit. I had a C50, it was really good. Think I had it for 4 years, then sold it as the Alpex came out, prior to that, I had a longbow, prior to that I had an archer, etc etc etc.
It's life Jim, but not as we know it,

Aye - your nearly spot on, with age patience is sliding away from me 😁 so setting up the Alpex was a wee hassle but not to bad .. I’ve only got it on my airgun and I don’t have a chronograph for one but my younger mate has one and is right into airguns in a big way and meticulous so guess what 😌he did it for me 😁👌don’t get me wrong I can do it but it’s much easier when a gun is handed to you and you hear the words “ she’s good to go “ 👍

I used to hate zeroing them with the freeze frame and trying to get it perfect.

Until I figured out how to use the app zeroing .

Take your shot

Walk to target.

Use a ruler to measure your adjustment accurately

Input to app

Upload

Job done

Much easier than faffing trying to get a proper freeze frame
