I'm waiting for BDS to introduce the Pigeon or rabbit course, as no doubt they will in time

Yes, its broader than just Eurasian boar, in the course material, however when it comes to the test itself it was solely age and gender of Eurasian boar

I wouldn't bother if its just to please plod, according to Hampshire FLD all DSC1 & 2, prove is that "you have attended a course", my recollection is rather different than merely turning up at the required time and place!
