Winch for suspended gralloch

I've made something similar but using Dyneema cord as it's only a couple of mm in diameter, very light but has a 700kg breaking strain. Coupled with some cheap pulleys off eBay and a sailing lock pulley it's ting and weighs next to nothing.
Done similar a few £ off eBay for pulleys cord from local army surplus

How do you find it with any weight on it? I've tried pulling things with dyneema before and ended up digging in to my hands
I drilled a couple of holes in a smooth Roe antler. Thread through the holes and when you need to pull I take a couple of wraps around the antler then pull. Only takes a second and saves your hands!😏

Looks good and very similar.

I luckily found a double pulley with a jammer thing (I'm sure it has a technical name) on eBay that was only a couple of quid as new they're quite expensive.

Main reason other than weight and bulk saving by swapping to Dyneema was that it has way less friction against itself under load, almost silk like. I found using a 6mm paracord before it was much harder to lift equal weight due to the friction against 4 lengths of cord under load.

Hi all,

I use an apex auto lift made by Napier for getting my deer, generally fallow, into a good position for a suspended gralloch its a great piece of kit however it can be a bit cumbersome, so I'm looking for a winch which is strong, quick and easy to use, it'll be handy as a spare or when there are two of us gralloching a number of animals.

Any suggestions?
Try these rated at 150kg with length of 8mm paracord, and a folding gambrel. I’ve used smaller ones than these (75kg) 6A95CCE9-C9B7-4FA3-93C0-4E96D729D287.webpfor 20years with no problem, they fit in game pocket or bum bag no problem.

I have a climbers/cavers pulley the type you use when going up pitches etc (I don’t climb or go caving friends do though) that I was given. 4/6mm braided rope and it will fit in my pocket. however I came across this this morning looks like a handy setup and would suit the suspended gralloch you can add mechanical advantage for little extra weight. Combine the tie down self locking device with a prussic and a lightweight carabiner.
