Worrying fall out from Gun trader leak

Last night I was pointed in the direction of the Anti website, Hunting Leaks.
They have got hold of the guntrader file & have it on their website with a tutorial of how to upload the file into Google earth. I followed the instructions & sure enough you can search anywhere in UK and if your details were in the hack it will have attached your name to your address.
The Hunting Leaks team are encouraging their followers to search the areas they live in and look for any gun owners, then go confront them on if they kill animals.
I don't know how bad this is going to be, but it's only going to take 1 lunatic to cause someone a serious problem I fear

My response to any unknown enquirer will be ‘No’ to any question about whether I shoot or hunt. Promptly followed by the door closing.

Or ‘targets only’ if they caught me on the way out ready to go shooting

I think I am right in saying that the authorities are already involved. I have never had any dealings with Guntrader thankfully.
Problem is, even if you haven't delt with them directly, a lot of RFDs used their servers to store customer data on. So just because you didn't use them, doesn't mean your details aren't there

Have never used an RFD either to transfer or purchase a rifle for years. But if anyone needs to find me I am not hard to find. Its almost certainly being investigated by the police. Any such breach is also compromising gun clubs and collectors of all sorts.
I doubt somehow that RFD data bases are attached to Guntrader, unless they are purchasing off Guntrader? But I am no IT expert so I may be wrong. It is worrying, and I have recently consulted with my colleague csl (Alex) who looks after all the IT issues on this site, to make sure we are as secure as is possible for this site.

I am on this list (had a couple of people tell me and send me screen shots) however aug anyone was to turn up at my home address they will be sent packing with a serious flea in the ear.

I just happen to have the FEO attending tomorrow so did plan on mentioning it to get his input as I feel gun trader haven’t given any guidance on what to do - some mentioned getting e-mails telling them what to do but I have seen nothing and once it’s out I guess there is not a lot you can do anyway!

can anyone post a link to this web page so I can at least check my name is on it for myself?

regards,
Gixer

This is a helpful tool of you would like to check which of your account details have been leaked.

Just put in your email address and search. It will tell you where and when the breach happened and what info was exposed.

shooting irg’s should be all over it!
Yes, they should. As usual though, our 'representative' bodies are woefully behind the times . . . . . not even a peep on The Voice's website, for example. Although, I note Conor is examining the HSE call for evidence regarding lead. No doubt once they're told The Voice what's expected we'll be robustly informed we're being shafted yet again . . . . .

I have no idea of the answer, but it would seem ludicrous if the ICO can’t deal with these morons.

There would appear a massive gap in the law if businesses such as Guntrader get massive fines for, effectively, being the victims of crime but those who then take the benefit of that crime and abuse it for their own end cannot be dealt with similarly (or, as it should be, more harshly).

Shows their true colours though. That post suggests they think private gun ownership is a risk to the public. If they really cared about that, they wouldn’t want people accessing this data.

What i find very disturbing is that guntrader is still operating.

Surely if their security is bad they and other similar websites should be shut down.

Those who have had details taken should be handsomely compensated by Guntrader but all Guntrader seem to be bothered about is that credit card details have not been taken

Hunting Leaks are using a file of personal information obtained through the guntrader data breach which they are hosting on google drive. If you want to request your personal information be removed from google drive you can contact google and tell them you want it removed by using this link Removing Content From Google - Legal Help

Thanks for that link. Which of the selectable options does Google Drive come under, it's not on the list on its own as far as I can see.

Is it an offence to use data obtain illegally? If so then collect all phone numbers of those that call and photograph everybody who accosts you. There must be somewhere where we could send this information. Does Google collect data on who downloads what information?

The Gunny gun gun file has been downloaded many times by now so I guess having your details removed from the one held on Google drive is not much of a help.

I notice that the file has data listed as PasswordHash for each person...is that decipherable?...I am presuming so.
