What was your most satisfying shooting related purchase this year?
‘Satisfying’ defined here as - exceeded expectations & was even more enjoyable to own & use than anticipated.
That someone else may differ in their view of the product is irrelevant - only your perception matters. It could be a rifle or a pair of socks.
My most satisfying purchase was a Zeiss 8x32 Victory FL binocular.
This model was superseded in 2020 by the current 8x32 Victory SF model but in my view the current SF gives very little extra (it’s actually got slightly lower light transmission), at the cost of being a noticeably larger & heavier instrument.
I’d been looking for a good used Victory 8x32 FL for a while, seeing a few 10x32’s for sale but rarely the 8x32. The stars aligned this year & I found one on EBay in the box with all the bits, described ‘as new’. Frankly I doubt it’s been used, the straps were still folded in their bands; the lens covers had never been fitted, not a spec of dust on it. As pleasing as the perfect condition was, the most satisfying aspect is they are even nicer to use than I expected - and I had very high expectations. For me they are just right as regards size, ergonomics, optical performance & tactile experience.
I’ve got other Zeiss binoculars & I’ve experience with Swarovski & Leica products but the Zeiss Victory 8x32 FL’s are the ones which I now use for most purposes. They are superb by any standards but even better than that - a delight to own & use.
Definitely my most satisfying sporting purchase of the year.
