Your most ‘satisfying’ purchase this year?

What was your most satisfying shooting related purchase this year?

‘Satisfying’ defined here as - exceeded expectations & was even more enjoyable to own & use than anticipated.
That someone else may differ in their view of the product is irrelevant - only your perception matters. It could be a rifle or a pair of socks.

My most satisfying purchase was a Zeiss 8x32 Victory FL binocular.

This model was superseded in 2020 by the current 8x32 Victory SF model but in my view the current SF gives very little extra (it’s actually got slightly lower light transmission), at the cost of being a noticeably larger & heavier instrument.

I’d been looking for a good used Victory 8x32 FL for a while, seeing a few 10x32’s for sale but rarely the 8x32. The stars aligned this year & I found one on EBay in the box with all the bits, described ‘as new’. Frankly I doubt it’s been used, the straps were still folded in their bands; the lens covers had never been fitted, not a spec of dust on it. As pleasing as the perfect condition was, the most satisfying aspect is they are even nicer to use than I expected - and I had very high expectations. For me they are just right as regards size, ergonomics, optical performance & tactile experience.

I’ve got other Zeiss binoculars & I’ve experience with Swarovski & Leica products but the Zeiss Victory 8x32 FL’s are the ones which I now use for most purposes. They are superb by any standards but even better than that - a delight to own & use.

Definitely my most satisfying sporting purchase of the year.

A bargain slightly used lightweight DPT moderator from MacLeods that transforms the handling of my shorty 308.

I enjoy the difference it makes every time I use the rifle.

Bergara BA13 Take-down, been lusting after one for ages and every time they get posted on here it's just made me want one more. Finally got one and I love it.

ATN pro x sight something or other model.

Actually more satisfying working out how to use a digital scope than buying it but it’s been an eye opener

I cannot think of anything I have bought this year apart from reloading consumables. Replaced my ancient Skellerups about 18months ago but that wasn't this year. Jacket pockets have got holes in but I can patch those up and it will do a couple more seasons.

I made myself a new belt a few months back which has been good and I suppose I bought the leather so I will say that but only because it's the only thing i can think of.

Oh actually, I did buy a Mora Companion Fishing 090 knife which i think lots of deer stalkers would benefit from. Cheap, easy to sharpen and just that little bit stronger than the usual filleting knife. Very slicey. I have been happy with that. I have used it in the field and also a decent butchery knife as well.

A second hand grenadier with low mileage, for what I thought was a bargain vs new. The petrol station is seeing more of me however 😫.

My daughter says I’m now obsessed with all things grenadier 😂.

Really happy with it (despite the comments from the Land Rover brigade 😂)
