Zeiss conquest HD

No experience of scope but I was looking to buy a new pair of bins last month and was considering the HDs. Spoke to a few specialists about them and the general feed back was don't buy them. Biggest issue they had was that they do not appear to be made in Germany and felt that quality of components and construction was not up to usual Zeiss standard and were predicting problems in a few years. Do not know whether this applies to the scopes too though and I am sure you will hear from guys saying they have them and are delighted with them but I ended up buying Swarovski.

I bought a pair of 8x42 HDs and I have to say for the money they are superb, can't see anything wrong with build quality at all.
And the specialist was?

I bought a pair last year and can confirm they are made in Germany, the build quality is superb, they are lightweight and the clarity is fantastic for the money. Fieldsports channel tv did a review the other week where they tried to test them to destruction and the survived - see the link below
In my opinion they are great value for money.

I have a Conquest 5-25x50 HD scope, I ordered it online from 4scopes.com, who were excellent and the first time ever I even managed to dodge the import duties. They have gone up since I bought mine.
I like the scope, it replaced an older 6.5-20 Conquest, while I feel that the glass is not quite as sharp as the old one it is definitely a better scope all round, especially the turrets. I got mine with a Rapid Z varmint reticle which I love as I find it really suits my style of shooting. I have done a back to back comparison with my 6-24 Diavari and pretty obviously the glass is not quite as good and you can't have an illuminated reticle but even at last light the difference is not all that considering it is about half the price.
In conclusion I would say they are still one the best value quality scopes.

Not used the conquest but have the Zeiss victory HT in 2.5-10×50 illuminated. Must say the scope glass etc is excelent. Think uttings do the best prices. Ifound the similar swaros the same quality on ly the zeiss were better priced.
I use the swaro binos they are designated HD. wouldnt look through anything else. Best you really get yourself down to a dealer and make comparisons everyones eyes are different.

I use a 5-25 zeroed HD5 scope, over all its good for the money I don't think much touches it for quality of glass and turrets at the price point. It's one down side is at full mag between 20 and 25x the eye box becomes very tight/fussy and can be a bit of a pain to get a consistent good site picture quickly. Also the front objective housing overhang is small so without a shade in wet weather (or covers) the front obj soon gets very wet
I have conquest hd bins, and they are incredible drew in more light and were clearer than my mates Swaro s l c for both me and him. That said could not get away with a conquest scope for some reason and I changed it for a duralyt My bins are made in Germany scope assembled in USA The bins are very good value and I would re commend
I have only just got round to veiwing this test. Amazing. Made me really glad I bought a pair. Superb glass, excellent light transmission, quality build. Even better my 8x42s were off E Bay used twice as new £490. A snip for top end binos.

Who wouldn't buy a pair after watching that??? Bloody superb, I really do like my 8x42 HDs.

i was thinking of getting one. the guy who put the link up to the site that sells them in the usa are the best bet. they will honour the warranty if it did ever break. ziess uk wont touch it. they wont even send it back to Germany for you. as these new ones are made there for the u.s market.
weird that when i asked the guy on the ziess stand at the show up in Warwick why wouldnt the send one of my old conquests back he said they couldn't to the states. but could to Germany if it was built there even though its a import.
soon as this new one come out i was very tempted to stick one on my 223. i asked again sods law no we cant send it back to Germany.... so you would have to send it back to USA. to go to Germany then back to USA before it is posted to you back here in the uk.
now the chances of it going wrong are slim but that £800 + pound scope suddenly doesn't seam like a bargain with no back up. as i said some shops in usa will honour warranty but you will have two lots of postage ouch
now i am not trying to knock zeiss i love there scopes. but after care for a big company like that doesn't fit well against the swaro and s&b scopes for after care. if you paid tax and import charges etc. i still think ziess uk should be more helpful and should honour warranty
after all if there good enough to put there name on it they should offer after care. and before anyone says its a grey import etc etc

If you buy in the uk you get lifetime warranty on their scopes. The same should be for the binos. There shouldnt be any quality difference between european binos scopes and those made for us market, there maybe some differences in names etc but this superficial. Buy zeiss in the UK and you wont have any problems.
