Zeiss diavari illuminated reticle died?

Hello people,
The illuminated reticle on my diavari scope seems to have given up? It's the 2.5 - 10 x 50 T* model. I thought I just needed to drop in a new battery, but to no avail. Before I go through the rigmarole of sending the scope to zeiss, does any of you know what the issue might be?

With the new battery, does it work at all going through the mag?

Only ask as my HT had to be sent off for repair as the contact ribbon to cause the illumination had bust. Illuminated 3-6 then off till 9 then flickered to 12 - playing around with it, it changed when it made contact as I would imagine the broken ribbon bunched up.
