Hi all, can I have some opinions on the best mounts for the above scope, I know it will probably come down to personal preference but I'm interested in what people think.

many thanks Tristram

+1 on the Optilocks. They wrap your scope in lovely safe plastic and I have never seen a scope damaged by them.

I love the build quality of Apels but they can mark/damage the scope unless you're very careful.

Cheers fellas that's two for optilocks then.

What about sportsmatch uk anyone use these?

Sportsmatch are good and cost a lot less, but can leave marks if you aren't careful - I use optilocks on my sako 85 and bkl's on my rimfire cz's. Use sports match if budget is an issue though as they're well made.

Cheers bunnydoom, I'm willing to save for a bit to get the right mounts, I want to get the right ones first time as this setup is hopefully going to last a real long time.

Many thanks Tristram

I have optiloks on one on my 243 and they are great, but when i bought a duralyt for the 270 i got a set of Talley's from Danpd on here, i have to say i rate them better than the optiloks.

On that case, Warne bases and rings are the most cost effective option. The Sportsman usually have them in stock. EAW are excellent, but very expensive.

I like the look of eaw mounts, have you used them? Would you need to re zero every time ? I'm guessing yes but some of these quick release mounts say you don't have to.,

thanks for the replys

Christ just seen the price of the eaw mounts I wouldn't want to have to re-zero for that money. There out of my range....no pun intended

i have a sauer 202 in 270, and have the same scope as you, i use leupold qr mount and rings on mine, i remove the scope before putting the gun in the cabinet with no loss of zero when it is replaced,

Another vote for Apel

I've got Apel's on my 202, and they've held the zero faultlessly for a couple of hundred rounds now, and I always store it without the scope.Ron

I've ended up with apel pivot mounts really impressed with the build quality and the adjustment the mounts offer, I would highly recommend these mounts.
Thanks everyone for your input.
