Have been tasked to find 2 pairs of the same binoculars for a retiring colleague and his wife (one each so that they do not have to keep changing focus every time the other wants to use them) - They will mostly be used for birdwatching not necessarily at dawn or dusk.
I am considering Zeiss Terra ED 8x42 - Can anyone using them please advise or suggest suitable alternatives within a budget of under £400 per pair.
They should not be too big or heavy as, most of the time, they will be hand held (i.e. not on a bipod or tripod and this also means the maximum practical magnification probably should not be more than 7 to 8.
Apologies in that I know there have been past reports on the Zeiss but I wondered if there have been any developments from other manufacturers which may affect my choice
