Always a real joy to see nature up close in the wild. I had the camera on 'rattle gun' of course.

What sort of distance are you John when you take these fabulous photographs?

Some taken as close as five metres. The hind had calved in a blackberry clump and i walked around the corner into them. She initially took off but came back when I called to her.
She was of course protective as a mother will be and wasn't too alarmed by me,more so my dog that held her attention fairly steady.

My biggest problem was that I had too big a lens installed for the distance and couldn't back off due to the berry bushes behind me.
When the calf followed me after the hind went I couldnt take a pic..too close...I got my phone out and took pics of the calf and dog no further than a metre.

I didnt touch the calf nor did my dog.
