Zeiss V8 2.8-20x56

Just bought a Zeiss V8 2.8-20x56, arrived today in a tatty and box, seals broken, from Sportsman Gun Centre . As such I thought I better check it out for any defects just in case its been passed around/dropped/messed with. Noticed a strange circular line in the tube, about 30mm from the objective lens. Its faint, only caught me eye because I was taking more care than usual to inspect it.

Probably just a remnant of the manufacturing process, unless someone has tried to clean it before dispatching it and scratched it!

Any other Zeiss V8 owners with this 'feature'?

If you paid full price send it back.

Buy it on the group buy and save hundreds.

And yes I own the same scope and a couple of the 1.8-14x50 non have that mark.

OK its going back tomorrow.
Looks like they have no more stock so it'll be a refund I guess.

Yes I paid full price, although there is an offer on at the moment whereby it comes with the Third Eye/Tier One 36mm rings at no extra cost.

wonder if they have had it as a shop show job or been used ie on test with the horrid rubber flap caps and why you have this mark ? back it mty box should be mint with a plastic film over it if new from Zeiss ?

no plastic film on the most recent one I handled and that was a sealed box that I opened.
it was scratch and most importantly, dust free

that one has been in an out the box more times than .....
