Anyone got a GRS stock , was thinking of getting one for my sako 85 ,wondered how good they feel .

A lot of people I know have one. They are enthusiastic!
The guy manufacturing them is a very correct person, post-sell service is very good. I only heard great things about him and his stocks.

Don't know much about GRS apart from at the game fair when I pressed one of the comb raiser buttons and the thing flew into quite a few pieces , I have a KKC on my Sako 85 and absolutely love it, it has transformed the rifle

I fancied them due to the adjustability, and was delighted when a kind fellow on here (Briar) invited me to handle his in the flesh (ooerr Missus !), as obviously best to handle before deciding. It felt great, specifically the sculpted grip as it fitted my large hands, but a few people have said the grip is too large for them. This was previously addressed by the Decima versions, but I believe the new range has possibly reduced the dimension of the Hunter and Sporter stocks. The Berserk feels about the same in terms of grip size, but unsure if it is identically dimensioned, but does feel nice.
I'd not say the adjustment mechanisms jump into loads of bits, but would agree perhaps some form of stop to guard against accidental disassembly would be a boost, I have done it once or twice.
Anyway, best to get your hands on one before comitting.

I think it is good advice to have a feel before you commit. Regarding size of palm well, I have hobbit hands and the KKC works fine. When I had a fiddle with the GRS stuff, they did appear to be made for larger hands.
If you put in KKC stocks into your search engine it will send you to the Norgy site (in english though) Peter Jackson is the uk importer so have a look on his website for current stock (Jackson rifles)

I've got the Berserk and think it's great. Makes the rifle a dream to hold and it's my first adjustable stock and it has definitely improved my shooting being able to get a really good consistent cheek weld and better length of pull. I'd get one for my Sako 75 too but as they only do the laminate versions I'm a bit dubious about adding that much more weight to an already heavy rifle.

I have the Hunter fitted to my 20" 308 75, barrel is slightly heavier than standard Sako, but just perfect balance. The extra ounces pay back many times over in confidence of fit.
I would possibly prefer a Berserk, but they weren't around at the time, and GRS have said they have no intention of doing them for the 75.

I have a laminate GRS stock fitted to my T3. The stock Isn't heavy...it actually weighs very little! I use one on my main stalking rifle.

As for things flying to pieces, that's a bit of an exaggeration. Press the comb adjustment button without holding the cheek piece and all that happens is that the cheek piece can come out (big deal) and the spring/button can come away. Three pieces, that's all, and a doddle to re-fit. You're meant to hold the cheek piece when pressing said button. Doing so prevents anything from coming away. It helps to remove the cheek piece when cleaning the rifle (for ease of cleaning rod use) anyway.

They're great stocks, at home stalking or shooting 1000 yard target. A massive improvement on the factory stock. Heartily recommended.

The only thing with mine was a poor factory finish. I stripped, sanded and refinished mine, which was a worthwhile exercise. They are also meant to be pillar bedded and you do have to be careful (laminate versions) NOT to over tighten the rear action screw as doing so can over-stress and split the stock without a hollow bedding pillar installed. I haven't yet bedded mine as it shoots .25 moa without any form of bedding, but may do so in future.

At the BSS, Oscar Haugen (CEO of GRS) told me that the adjustment system has now been changed so the buttons will not let go of the struts in normal operation.

Just checked and the GRS sported is actually a few grams lighter than the Berserk but need to compare it to the standard Sako laminate and see what the difference is.

Hi I've got one on my Sauer 202 and can praise it enough , great grip and a lot better than the standard synthectic Sauer stock , would certainly buy another

I think the new guy on the block FORM STOCKS, may give them a run for 2/3rds of their money.

ill let you know my findings when I get the BR done.

bob.

They are expensive but there aren't many aftermarket stocks that are adjustable and strong that are under £500 and there are a lot that are over £700. I couldn't find a price on the Form stocks but I did notice there equivalent of the sporter varmint was 500grams heavier and didn't look as ergonomic but I suppose that depends what you like.
