Well gentlemen, after nearly two years the wait was finally over. This beauty arrived at my house. As you can imagine, the excitement was too much to bear, and finished work early.

Now I just need someone to help me get these two out of the box. Cant wait to do it all again. Out to South Africa again in about 7 weeks.

Thanks

I went last May I'm still waiting for mine to come back hope i don't have wait as long as you did

I am also thinking about going to Africa at some stage, and would be very interested to understand the "after-stalk" costs, e.g. getting trophies prepared like this, and sent home.
Does it dramatically change the all-in cost of the trip (ex-international air fares)?
thanks for any indications anyone can give

Luckily I could share my shipping and import agent costs with someone else. Made it a little bit cheaper. But it all depends on how big the crate will be. We had impala shoulder mount, warthog shoulder mount, zebra skin, 2 impala skull mounts, warthog skull mount, blesbuck skull mount, red hartebees skull mount. Excluding taxidermy, SA side was about £500 and then another £340 in the U.K. I think our taxidermy bill was about £600. Hope this helps.

The after stalk costs are substantial. If you look at the price for shooting a trophy animal , e.g. Zebra at say £500, you'll be looking at another £500 (or more!) to get the skin prepared and shipped to the UK. A £1000 Kudu will probably set you back unto £2K for a shoulder mount and shipping. From my experience taxidermy is very expensive in South Africa considering the work is all done by the native South Africans who are paid a pittance. I'm still trying to find a taxidermist in SA who charges reasonably, does good quality work and doesn't take 2 years to get your trophies shipped back to you. Going over in a few weeks and will be trying to source a decent taxidermist in the Eastern Cape. Can anyone offer any suggestions? (Not KARL HUMAN TAXIDERMY please).
