2 FACs one House hold - Sharing Safes

My partner has recently started shooting with me at my Club and is now a Club member, She will be putting in for her FAC in the foreseeable future. What are the laws on us both having access to the same Safes? Will she need to have her own Safe or will all our rifles just have to be on both tickets? How does it work?

Thanks in advance.

Think it becomes tricky with the safe if I remember right. Contact your FAO to be sure on the details. Still think it's same rules applies.

I would suspect that once she has passed her probationary period at the club, she could use all your rifles so they could be held jointly, assuming she is given an FAC - Has she applied for all your calibres?
Best speaking to your FEO as we all know attitudes vary but there is nothing in law says she may only shoot certain calibres at a club.

3 of us sharing storage. One with FAC & SGC, one with FAC only and one with SGC only.

VSS. If that's the case, i wouldn't be broadcasting it on an open forum. I would think it would be in your best interest to contact your licensing dept asap to sort that mess out. Cheers, Fatty.

 Must be a welsh thing !! Essex would be sending out a collection team and wonting to know how others may have unlawful access to your firearms? :???: , if firearms held are't entered all on each cert as a condition to access or hold , may be a typo hope so ,

Some FAO's may allow shared access to the same cabinet, i had shared access when i lived at home with my Parents, but i did have all firearms listed on my FAC.

Also it may be allowed that that SGC holder may have access to a cabinet which has Firearms enclosed, providing that these are locked separately i.e trigger lock chain etc, it shouldnt be a problem anyhow if the bolts are stored separately either.

I did exactly this when I lived at home with my dad, though for shotguns, but as I recall the concept is broadly the same.

You can either have you own safes with your own guns and ammo locked up separately, or (which I did with the old man) you can share a safe and put all the guns on both licences.

The only time that will get trickier is if you have different rifles for different purposes - EG; You have a .375H&H for Africa but your other half doesnt have good reason for it herself. In that instance you'll need to follow your FEO's guidance but I would imagine you'll be back to having two safes.

If you both shoot .22LR and .308 for target use at the same club and thats all you have then you'll probably be ok to share a safe, as you having access to each others rifles doesnt mean you have access to a rifle you wouldnt otherwise have anyway with your own guns. You both have good reason for .22LR and .308 for target use so in that instance its not a problem to share a safe.

It really isn't complicated. Some of you guys are inclined to over think things.
Everyone's household circumstances are different. Provided that you can demonstrate to your FEO that your security arrangements are adequate and appropriate to your situation then they are going to be fine with it, and grant your tickets.

it is easy for me to say as my force is Sussex, who are very responsive and typically helpful, but an email or call to the FEO will find the only answer that matters to relatively routine issues such as these. Our conjecture is unlikely to be helpful.

I've got shared storage with my dad. He got his ticket after me, so borrows my guns.

Some of my stuff isn't on his ticket, we discussed this at his grant application with the feo. The agreement is that the stuff he can't have is chained together.

Lets face it, he's been certified as someone who is safe to have access to firearms, so all that is needed is to stop him having easy use for a few.

both my sons have shared access to cabinets with 7 rifles and 5 shotguns. 22 to 500NE. Shared access in itself was enough good reason for FEO to put all the rifles on their FACs Even the one who lives in York and is unlikely to ever use the double rifle
