Hi you night vision guys.
Just bought a new .243 to set up with night vision. Done a lot of reading up and YouTube the last few weeks and I am think of going for the Yukon photon rt 6 x50s digital rifle scope. Thats my price bracket and i dont want to spend any more. I will be using it out to 200 yards ( 300 yards to spot ) on our grouse moor for fox control. Also theres some rabbit control to do on my local golf course too. (.17 for that)
Is there owt out there as good as Yukon unit . your views please.

Regards Bri. :)

I know it is more than you want to spend but you may be able to pick up a second hand Ward add on and provided you marry it to a suitable day scope/IR it will give you the ability to mag up to 16 for those long 200 ish shots.

Hi Bri

one thing to factor in is if you want to start swapping your Yukon between rifles at all the cost of gearing up with decent QR rings on the Yukon and your day scopes is getting on for the difference in price between the Ward and the Yukon

Hi I’ve had great experience with all the night vision suggested- and can categorically tell you the 6.5 x50 photon xt not the new rt matched with a sunranger of which you can buy from ludicrous lumens will give you crisp clean images out to 250 yards and beyond, if you add a doubler to the unit you can see there whiskers at 200 and shoot to 300 if you desire- I personally bought the doubler but have since taken it off as I shoot all of mine at less than 200 and prefer a larger field of view ,- also if you match up with a thermal spotter and caller as I have done- no Fox is safe...or lamp shy! Don’t get talked into buying any other unit as they are inferior- the photon set up as suggested will get you on top of any Fox problem and is very reliable and will match many units 4 x the price - go get one

True, I had a decent steel Contessa rail on my tikka which was £80 Plus decent Leupold rings are £90ish new and you'll need two sets so factor that in.

Cheers for the comment N1 mr0d you have me thinking now?:?: l will definitely check out the ward add on tonight that Blueroll told me about.
Much appreciated.

Hi purplepig.
I love your confidence in the unit if you say the 6.5 x50 photon xt is that good with the right setup well I will take your word for it. It's when you watch some of the videos on YouTube it does not do the unit justice that's why I have joined this forum for some top advice . I have a nightmaster eclipse 1000 IR that should be powerful enough to see Mr Fox wouldn't you say purplepig.

There is only one draw back to the ward and that is that your scopes have to be able to parallax down really low.
That's what put me off is the fact that all my stalking scopes don't have parallax adjustable, and even the scopes that I have only go down to 50m.
I have the photon 6.5 and find it great but like has been said I have rails on my rifles and qd rings.

I have to say I love mine, although I went with a 75mm lens and decent IR but its crystal clear, you will need an adjustable IR mount to get the best from both units, but would say this king of set up is easy to use and very good, atb wayne

I'm also considering a Photon to swap between rifles one of which is heavy recoiling. The RT is rated to withstand heavy recoil. Does anyone know whether the XT can be used on a heavy recoiling rifle ?

No backdropbri, sell your night master on eBay and buy a sun ranger from ludicrous lumens it will **** all over it. I messed about with all of those and they work ok but with a sun ranger you get crystal clear image no graininess and as stated the quality image of something many times more expensive. If you've got grouse to look after spend your money on a thermal and a sun ranger to go on your photon, I guarantee u will not be dissapointed.
