Flip up lens covers

Just wondered what flip up lens covers people are using. I have been using butler creeks but with a new scope I wondered if there is something better out there.

Vortex Defender from Optics Warehouse - far superior to the Butlers.

Flip Ups

+1 Found the Butler Creek ones very easy to snap off at the hinge. The Vortex are more expensive but worth it, they also fold back 270 degree so they are flat against your scope.

For my stalking rifle i use the silent and minimalistic harkila neoprene magnet cover. Really good.

For varmint rifles, i use the vortex ones which are very good but more bulky but you can keep drop charts in the ocular cover.

PM rob at Monarch shooting supplies on here. He does a cracking offer for ocular and objective posted together.

I snapped off 2 sets of Butler Creeks on my Z6i, so recently purchased the proper Swarovski ones for it and have to say as you would expect the quality is fantastic!, don't think even I will break them

+1 for the Vortex.
Unfortunately, on my current rifle, there's not enough room between the scope and barrel to slip the cover over the objective lens. I wonder, is there any kind of lens cover that screws into the end of the scope (as a sunshade does)?

I'm sure I've seen lens covers that have been cut, on the bottom edge, by the owners so that they slip on to the lens without snagging the barrel!
Obviously don't do it on an expensive set!!
More like the bungee cord ones that have caps for both ends.

I did sand down the bottom edge of a butler creek scope cover for this reason, but the current rifle has less clearance and still has the rear open site, so would have to cut away too much I think.

Lost count of the number of Butler Creek scope covers I have broken so I decided to buy the Swarovski lens covers and they are brilliant. Very well made and screw. into the scope therefore no problems with scope/barrel clearance. Only issue is they are very expensive.
Never tried Vortex covers but quite a few posters seem to rate them.

I have a Hawke scope and the aluminium screw in integrated flip up covers are the best I have ever seen. The high end manufacturers should copy them IMO.

For our hunting note our hunting in bush country I have seen them to be a real liability, they will snag in the thick stuff and when you want a snap and I mean a snap shot they will ruin your chance and that chance may be the only one you may get in a weeks hunting. No matter how fast they are to flip up,while you are doing that a shot can be on its way. I even asked my Irish mate to take them off the HS rifle I carried over there on the Sika. They are not for bush stalking imo.

Well timed thread. I was looking for some when I saw it.
Ordered the Vortex ones, a couple of clicks ago.

Thanks.
